Crew Members Show Commitment During Holiday Operations

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., (NYSE: AAI - News), announces that over the five-day holiday period of Wednesday, December 22, 2004, through Sunday, December 26, 2004, the airline's Crew Members reported for work and delivered superior customer service. In fact, as a demonstration of AirTran Airways' commitment to its customers, the airline's completion factor (ratio of actual flights operated versus scheduled flights) was 100 percent on Christmas Eve with nine additional flights. The overall five-day completion factor averaged above ninety-eight percent.
In addition, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) reported that in the first ten months of 2004, AirTran Airways had the best baggage handling ratio among all the reporting airline companies.

"We believe our baggage handling performance was exceptional and consistent with our normal outstanding Caring Customer Service that our Crew Members strive to deliver every day. Even with the challenges of the winter weather during the long holiday weekend, our Crew Members went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our customers made it to their final destination this Christmas season," stated Joe Leonard, AirTran Airways' chairman and chief executive officer.

AirTran Airways is one of America's largest low-fare airlines -- with 6,000 friendly, professional Crew Members and operating over 500 flights a day to more than 40 destinations. The airline's hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest airport by passenger volume, where it is the second largest carrier. AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings (NYSE: AAI - News), is the world's largest operator of the Boeing 717 and has America's youngest all-Boeing fleet.

The airline recently added the Boeing 737-700 aircraft to its fleet, which like the Boeing 717 is one of the most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft flying today. AirTran Airways was also the first airline to install XM Satellite Radio on a commercial aircraft.
