Alliances - can it work with LCC's ?

WestJet apparently plans alliances with other airlines. The article says that it may be oneworld, but I just don't see the "fit". WestJet and SW, on the other hand...
I know SW doesn't do Canada flights, but SW also didn't codeshare until the ATA deal.

Any comments? Any chance for SW to start transborder flights into places like YYZ, for example? Or other Canadian airports that have US customs.

Interesting points. As you know we now codeshare and you can fly to Hawaii and Mexico...why not Canada in the future?

It wasn't an alliance, it was more like the codeshare that they are doing with ATA.

It wasn't even a codeshare, more of a marketing agreement. At no point could you buy a seamless ticket for a trip on both airlines.
