With a special MEC Update for Thursday, January 6, 2005, this is MEC Communications Chairman Steve Derebey.

The pilots of United airlines have ratified the tentative agreement between the Air Line Pilots Association and United Airlines. The agreement amends the pilots’ current collective bargaining agreement with the Company, effective January 1, 2005, and will provide $180 million in annual labor savings to the Company. 88.5 percent of the eligible United pilot group cast votes on the new labor agreement, which was approved by a vote of 76.8 percent to 23.1 percent. The new agreement remains subject to approval by the bankruptcy court which is hearing the matter today.

Please check back later and we will provide you with further information on any action taken by the Bankruptcy Court in addition to a further breakdown of the voting by Council.
