MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - September 4, 2004

This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Saturday, September 4th, with two new items.

Item 1. The MEC will not reconvene until 4:00pm this afternoon. The Negotiating Committee met with the Company this morning and discussed the economics of our recent proposals. Both committees are meeting separately now and plan to meet later today to resolve the valuations of various components of our proposal. The latest ALPA proposal is now available on the pilots only home page under “Negotiating Committee Information.â€￾

Please monitor the code a phone for any late breaking events or changes to the MEC meeting schedule.

As this next meeting could very well be the discussion of a Tentative Agreement or a final proposal, all pilots are urged to attend. If that indeed occurs, the MEC will then make the determination if this final proposal/agreement would be sent to the membership for ratification.

Please note that this hotel does not provide transportation from the airport and that portions of the reconvened meeting may be in closed session.

Item 2. As a reminder, there is a posting on the pilots only Jets for Jobs Information Page that provides a class schedule for MidAtlantic for October, November and December 2004. Please note that all bids must be received by midnight, September 6, 2004. For further information, please refer to the J4J webpage.

Please remember we have 1,879 pilots on furlough.

Thank you for listening.

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - September 4, 2004 #2

This is Jack Stephan with a second US Airways MEC update for Saturday, September 4th, with two new items.

Item 1. The MEC did not reconvene at 4:00pm this afternoon as previously recorded. It is anticipated that the MEC will reconvene later this evening. Both negotiating committees continue to meet separately and plan to meet later today to resolve the valuations of various economic components of respective proposals. The latest ALPA proposal, as well as the Company’s counterproposal of this morning, are now available on the pilots only home page under “Negotiating Committee Information.â€￾

Please continue to monitor the code a phone and pilots only web site for any late breaking events or changes to the MEC meeting schedule.

USA320Pilot comments: ALPA provided the company with a proposal this morning that its financial advisors valued at $295 million. The company valued it at $275 million and are seeking deeper cuts. Negotiators for both parties are still negotiating as of 5:15 p.m. Saturday night, the MEC remains in recess prepared to reconvene at the Key Bridge Marriott, and there are a lot of rank-and-file pilots at the hotel ready to voice their opinion on a Tentative Agreement or a final proposal.

Respectfully,

i'd sure like to know why they always post this statement--please remember that we have 1,879 pilots on furlough when i'm sure most of them either got hired on with other airlines or in our express department--whichever it may be and yet none of the other union bulletins have a statement to that type of agree.

robbedagain,

Maybe all the unions or departments should have that type of reminder, of those furloughed. It helps us all remember just how easily it could happen to us and not forget those who were less fortunate.

I want to see everyone, who wants to, come back as soon as possible.

This all comes down to everyone trying their best to get the best deal they can. It is unfortunate there are people on this board attacking the 'rookies' for looking out for their co-workers.

Why would anyone be so brazen in attacking those looking out for the interests of the people they work with?

I wish I could put a positive spin on this....

Nah....it's almost over. Sorry to be so negative.

Wishing for the best..expecting the worst. Thanks for the memories.....
