American Airlines Gets Increased Credit Line of $850M; $834M Old Line Set to Expire Next Year

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- AMR Corp., the owner of American Airlines, said Friday that it received a $850 million, revolving credit line, replacing a $834 million line that was set to expire next year.

Officials at the world's largest carrier said they were able to close the deal a year ahead of the previous line's maturity date because of strong bank support, positive response from new investors and employee support.

The lead underwriters for the six-year credit facility are Citigroup and J.P. Morgan.

Shares closed earlier down 18 cents, or 1.8 percent, at $9.98 on the New York Stock Exchange.
