An American Airlines Boeing 757 flying from Chicago to Los Angeles made a safe emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport just before noon on Friday.

Flight 1745, carrying 160 people, landed in Tulsa after an in-flight emergency. Tulsa Fire Captain Larry Bowles tells the News On 6 that the plane experienced a hydraulics problem. After the plane landed, emergency crews surrounded the aircraft.

There are unconfirmed reports that the plane lost hydraulics on the left side of the aircraft, possibly because of a leak, and would have to be towed to the terminal.

Tulsa Airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins tells the News On 6 that no one on the plane was hurt. Higgins said the airport is operating normally with the exception of the runway on which Flight 1745 landed.

Higgins told the News On 6 that the passengers would be taken to an American Airlines gate at the airport. She says it will be up American to determine whether another plane will be brought in to finish the flight or whether the passengers would be put on other flights.

A hair-line fracture in a hydraulic line prompted an American Airlines Boeing 757 flying from Chicago to Los Angeles to make emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport just before noon Friday.

Flight 1745, carrying 152 passengers and six crew members, landed in Tulsa after an in-flight emergency. American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith told The News On 6 that the pilots received a hydraulic system warning light during the flight. Smith said the hydraulics system was working but that the pilots decided to divert to Tulsa as a precaution.

After the plane landed, emergency crews surrounded the aircraft. It was then towed off the runway to a terminal gate.

Smith says passengers were kept onboard the aircraft while American Airlines mechanics worked to fix the hair-line fracture.

After sitting at Tulsa International Airport for almost 2 1/2 hours, the plane continued on to Los Angeles.
