Bill creates detention camps in U.S. for 'emergencies'
Sweeping, undefined purpose raises worries about military police state

Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.

The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

Just lovely, people are up in arms about Gitmo and this fool wants to open up a whole chain of them here...

In removing the charges without prejudice, prosecutors can resubmit charges at a later date while at the same time complying with President Barack Obama's order to the military to hold off on cases for four months.

With this move, all cases at Guantanamo are now in line with the president's order to halt court proceedings at the detention center, according to Gordon.

Maybe they will decide to lynch him later. Its a disgrace that out new POTUS has no cajones and terrorist are now in control.

Does Homeland Security have the right to create a detention center? If so where is that outlined?

So do you have any information supporting the fact that the Homeland Security Dept can create a detention center or not?

Don't know if any of that is true or not but the three links you provided made no mention of Homeland Security which is what is specified in HR 645. The FEMA stuff was from 04 IIRC and that as republican House/Senate and POTUS.

Kind of interesting in that video the way they cant the barbed wire.......also funny old buildings have new HVAC installed....railroad right there...just like over in Germany.
Miss the USAF heavy equipment?

You need centers located relatively close to transportation whether it be rail, air or highway...remember we're talking about relocating thousands.

This bill you're concerned with I think only declares and names what already exists.

Read those EO's.......

Check out the locations of the suspected centers on Google Earth....I did...you may be surprised.

One of Jimntx sources:

Check out the Pacific News link Cos......is from 2006

It connected the new "immigration emergency" plans with older plans that involved imposing martial law.

Good enough?

Charges dropped in USS Cole terror trial

Excerpt:
WASHINGTON - The Pentagon's senior judge overseeing terror trials at Guantanamo Bay dropped charges Thursday against an al-Qaida suspect in the 2000 USS Cole bombing, upholding President Barak Obama's order to freeze military tribunals there. The charges against suspected al-Qaida bomber Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri marked the last active Guantanamo war crimes case.
