Would not be a consolidation in this case. British Airways cannot take over or control of AA. That would also not reduce any competition within the US market.

Unless an Equity company built its dream own team so to speak. Buying AA along with another carrier and forcing a merge between them. With AA and BA always working in close cooperation, and the hope of the management's, that one day combo of the two will happen. BA might be involved with money to help over see what it sees as part of its future.
