I like how they state that if lean is unsuccessful, maintenance is in jeopardy, line 12, then you go to line 18, and they guarantee C checks? Lean is accomplished in the turbine shop, and on aircraft in the hangars, sounds like an out for the company to pack things up. <_<

Statement about if lean is not successful, maintenance is in jeopardy, is line 20, and the C check guarantee is on line 26. This whole, lets vote for a contract with a gun to our head reminds me of the ESOP. During one of the most successful times of the company, we were locked into some crappy contract. Now the company wants to lock us into another crappy contract for another 5 years. How about we just sacrifice till we come out of bankruptcy, then we will negotiate a contract when the old one expires 2006? Gas prices maybe lower, and give a chance for all the cost cutting to go into effect.

That will never happen. No bank in their right mind is going to hand UAL 2 billion dollars just to have great labor unrest all over again a year from now and put their huge investment at unnecessary risk. Remember, it's the banks "behind the scenes" pulling a lot of these contract strings. No "locked in" union negotiated or court imposed contracts= no money= no exit from bankruptcy.
