http://www.tdu.org/m...t-some-retirees Good Luck! Once the cork is out of the bottle, the gennie is gone for good!!! Think about it! You may want to retire someday! I believe this maybe more about the shortfall of the "Teamsters" penson fond than anything else! Why should the retirees be expected to bale them out just because they can't manage their plans!!!------- Something to think about before you sign that teamster card!!!

Not to mention, from what Im reading on the UAL page there is talk that the IBT is giving up aircraft moves for some floating holidays. If this is true, it is TWU all over again.... This is the kind of move I could see them making and then bragging about what they got for you.

AMFA- 100% of their time is spent thinking about the issues of maintenance and related (not bus drivers, truck drivers, casino workers etc)

I agree the IBT is terrible. The UA AMTs made a big mistake leaving the IAM. Most UA AMTs have experienced the IAM, AMFA and now the IBT and most say the IAM was the best, hands down. AMFA tells AMT what they want to hear but doesn't have the resources to represent their members properly.

IAM District 142 just spent $300,000 getting the licenses of four USA AMT back after they were revoked by the FAA. That's more money than AMFA has in its entire treasury.

Have you looked at the LM2 reports lately?

I think you need to go back and check you figures before you tell every one how much money has.

Just because you type it does not make it true.

Of the three industrial unions I would agree that the IAM is at the top.
But we the mechanics want our own union, for our class and craft.
One that will seperate us from the ramp and stores.

This can't be done with the IAM/TWU/IBT.....

They all represent ramp/stores and others its all about dues and size..

ASk the SWA guys they had them all as well if I am not mistaken. Ask them which one they prefer and what happened under the others.

Teamsters Broken Promises

The Teamsters will open the contract if we are elected under

Section 6 as the new UAL mechanics representative union.

At UAL two years ago the Teamsters promised to open the contract. IBT Airline Division leaders stated:

“As the new bargaining agent we can open your contract if the UAL membership decides to.”

In June 2008 the Teamsters conducted a poll and UAL mechanics voted to open the contract. The IBT Union

leadership then chose to ignore the will of UAL mechanics. Here’s a quote from an IBT appointed rep in SEA.

“The Teamsters wisely ignored the will of the UAL membership and refused to open the contract”

The Teamsters betrayed the trust of the UAL mechanics. This pattern of IBT union betrayals has a long history.

The Teamsters could not open the contract without the agreement of the company. The Teamsters organizers

and their leadership lied to the UAL membership to get them to vote for the Teamsters. Once the Teamsters

became the bargaining agent they conducted a survey of UAL mechanics to open the contract. The UAL

mechanics voted to open the contract and the IBT refused to open the agreement as they had promised.

Two years after certification the Teamsters have failed to negotiate a new contract.

The Teamsters failed to enforce a key contractual right, in our contract the “NMB Mediation clause” on

page 208 of the UAL Mechanic Contract

. The Teamsters negotiations are more than a year behind the

negotiations of the IAM, ALPA and other unions on the property. The Teamster Airline Division promised they

would open the contract and they lied. Teamsters organizers promised to open the contract and negotiate better

benefits and they failed.

Attached is the campaign promise – The UAL mechanic survey – and the ugly truth

we now find ourselves tied to with the Teamsters as our representative.

It is time to establish our own District and Locals. The Teamsters do not represent the

UAL mechanics; the last two years of IBT representation prove that beyond a doubt.

Do not allow the Teamsters to make any more mistakes concerning your future and your

contract.

Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreement Survey for the Mechanics at United

Airlines

Exit this survey >>

1. Default Section

1. DO WE BARGAIN? The Teamsters can legally open Section 6 bargaining to improve job security,

wages, work rules, and benefits. If we do not open bargaining, the current agreement will remain in

effect until its amendable date and, if we are certified as your bargaining agent, be enforced by the

Teamsters. If we do open bargaining, the current agreement remains in place until we have

negotiated an improved agreement and you have ratified the new agreement. All Teamster

agreements must be voted on and ratified by the members. Whether the Teamsters open

bargaining depends on your answer to the following question. Select only one response to

question below.

Should the Teamsters open Section 6 bargaining?

2. BARGAINING PRIORITIES

In order to focus its bargaining effort, your Negotiating Committee needs to know what issues have

the most importance for United Airlines (UAL) mechanics and related employees. Further priorities

may be added at the end of the survey.

Please rank the following issues from 1 (your highest priority) to 6 (your lowest priority). Note:

There should be only one mark in each column and row.

What are your highest priorities for upcoming negotiations?

1 2 3 4 5 6

Job security

Wage increases

Health benefits

Retirement benefits

Pd. time off (vac/etc)

3. Your PBGC retirement: As a part of bankruptcy negotiations, your retirement and other

contractual items were severely reduced. Below, please choose your one top priority on how your

Committee should allocate its money as it relates to your future retirement and other contract

issues.

I request that the Teamsters do open Section 6 bargaining on my behalf.

I request that the Teamsters do not open bargaining on my behalf.

Allocate money for a new pension plan by reducing the amount of wage increase requests.

Increase wages rather than allocate contributions for a new pension plan.

When you spout off, as you just did, without doing any investigations of your subject, all your future postings will be taken with a grain of salt. AMFA as a total has plenty of money. Others have come here trying to post that AMFA has no money. My local itself has a little under 1.5 mil after all bills. This is just one local. Just wait until AA mechs become AMFA, they will be bringing in well over 1/2 mil per month (I think per month) and their finances will be very, very solid in just a matter of a few months, not to mention the coffer of funds that AMFA National has. Just stop with the AMFA has no money to represent anyone. Do some homework prior to posting.

It's always good to hear debates about which Union would best to represent the AA membership. But the point I wanted to stress when I started this topic was that even Unions, can surcome to the trend of taking from those who can least aford it, and can least defend against it, in this country today, when it provides a means of protecting, and advancing, their selfish interests!----- And that Union happens to be one that is trying to inject itself as a saver of the AA membership!-------- This trend which would penalise the vary people who built, and made this country great, unfortinately, is becoming more popular everyday!------- And has turned a once, "earn your own way" generation, into a "take, even if unearned" one!!!
