This is where the merged airline has huge growth potential out of DFW and LAX to the Far East. More opportunities than the other big guys have IMHO.

meh , we must be careful in Asia , AWA people know how quickly events can turn over there ...

Japan eh , kyle bass has a view that I myself somewhat share on their country ...

China , a powerhouse for sure , but as of this moment tensions are increasing with Japan , and the people in China are very government driven , if we had routes to china and America fell out of favor we could quickly have empty planes ... not to mention the horrific bribery rackets that exist to extort untold sums from companies ...

SE Asia seems like a good bet ... Vietnam is rising , albeit somewhat more slowly than they have in years past .. Indonesia is a regional economic player , and Singapore is BOOMING ..

Austria is always a safe bet , No matter what happens they will continue to supply China with the raw materials they need , ensuring that the Aussies economy will thrive no matter what happens ... and if we can lure them away from vacationing in Eastern Asia and take them to The wild West of America ( or the beaches of KOA,OGG,HNL,LIH ) mores the better .

Transitory political economies notwithstanding, it's going to come down to route feasibility, profitability and ease of entering a market if the new AA is serious about competing in Asia. As far as I know AA isn't planning on flying 747's from PHX to Japan so I don't know how the AWA experience is useful.
