Flew in/out of DTW and the the Free Press is really having a field day bashing NWA, every chance they get. Local media outlets pile on as well. And UNFORTUNATELY, the travelling public can be soooooooo ignorant to believe everything they are fed. People want to point their fingers at the employees (the pilots are too visible and an easy target)yet Mgmnt always appear dipped in Teflon to deflect the blame. It wasn't a Gate Agent, F/A, Pilot or Ramp Rat that took an airline into Bankruptcy....BAD Mgmnt, YES.......it's SYSTEMIC at ALL the airlines. It is long OVERDUE that our USELESS Federal Government STEP in an ADDRESS this Corporate Mess that proliferates at all the carriers....AA,UA,US, etc. The rank and file worker is NOT the problem, they are just a FACE the public feels they can GO OFF ON. I encourage everyone to contact the DOT and MAKE CHANGES.

Question:
Don't all these airlines and labor groups within the airlines have UNIONS?

Maybe ya'll ought to contact your unions and tell them your mad as hell and you arn't gonna take it anymore! Withhold your union dues if necessary or ask for union withdrawl cards. That ought to get them interested!

Your right, mgt is never the problem. BTW, funny how the fress press was in their pocket during the AMFA strike, now thay have a field day bashing them.... More Excuses

Hate to tell you this but the Federal Government already "stepped in and addressed the problem" It happened back in 1978 when they deregulated the US Airline industry. If you read up on it, you will notice that they had virtually no problems before then: Airlines were all operating in the black, there were delays but were managable, the employee's were happy, the people that could afford to fly were happy...The two major benefits of deregulation were fares and productivity...this was supposed to benefit everyone, and prob would have but then you throw in the start-ups and the pricing war started. We, as a society are driven by two factors....money and time...If you look at the places where you by airline tickets, they're almost always sorted by price and the shortest time. The problem is all the legacy carriers are having a hard time competing with the start-ups as far as pricing goes....the productivity benefit was to sell off excess seats at a lower price....but if you list all the seats at a lower price, then how in the heck can you make a profit? Easy, take away perks, slash employee wages and work rules...can't understand why people ####....when I worked at nwa, the motto among employees was "sit down, shut up, will get you there eventually" and if you are only paying peanuts....what should you care?
