Big Drop in International Traffic

Maybe if SOME (You know who you are), Flight attendents started to realize that they are there for the passengers not the other way around.

So this worldwide drop in international traffic could've been mitigated by friendlier FAs?

You forgot to mention that the flight attendants are there for the cargo too Mr. Einstein.

Part of the big drop off imo has to do with the stupid TSA non-sense at the airport. They are driving people away. I know many high dollar ff's who will not fly or fly very little thanks to TSA. So till these morons stop their stupid non sense it will get worse.

First, the worldwide recession is what is driving the decrease in international passenger and cargo demand.

Any drop in demand as a result of TSA non-sense would be unnoticeable since most of their newest antics resulting from the NW AMS flight have only been around since the end of December. To the degree that your statement has merit, it would be most noticeable on short-haul segments where TSA has made the process so inconvenient that it is now actually cheaper to take a train/drive.

What airline is not to concern about international travel

The TSA has been in place since 2001 and there were many profitable, growth years of international travel since then. Surly flight attendants and TSA agents aside, those annoyances are not enough to be the only reason to deter people from flying as much as a depressed economy.

Is there any new destinations this summer? And what has been dropped?

I don't think there's any new destinations, but there are a few additional flights to destinations already served. CLT-FCO is one of those, PHL-ANC another, and seems like a few others.

As Jim said, no new destinations for summer 2010. CLT-FCO is the only new route; BHX, MXP, SNN, and ARN were suspended along with PHL-LGW flights. As of now, the only new destination for 2010 will be GRU, but that won't be added until later in the year and may come at the expense of GIG depending on if US is able to get another set of Brazilian frequencies.

So is ANC international in the same way that HNL is???

Sorry, I couldn't resist. 😛

OK Thanks for the reply!

One more thing, will the 757 have enough guts to make PHL-ANC nonstop or will there be trouble with it?
