This once again appears to be some senseless tragedy and my heart and prayers go out to the loved ones affected.

Info....

Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone, the commanding officer at Fort Hood, the largest active military installation in the country, said the base was in lockdown as military authorities, with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigate the rampage.

I must tell you I was very upset and was watching CNN as they said the President was going to make a comment on this terrible tragedy.......Soon Obama appeared and went into a diatribe about the Dept. of Interior and a conference and the 'original Americans'...then he led into a statement regarding the Ft Hood issue.

I couldn't believe the extreme naivette of this clown......

Dead American soldiers and families in extreme grief and wondering and He comes on about the Indians and a conference at this time of tragedy......

Praise Obama..........

Can you not put your hate of Obama aside for a minute before gathering some facts?

Unreal.

Obama's remarks came at the conclusion of the Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Interior Department and the White House. He told his listeners – leaders from many of the 564 federally recognized American Indian tribes – that he had discarded his prepared comments in light of the breaking news.

"I planned to make some broader remarks," he said after brief introductory comments. "But as some of you might have heard there has been a tragic shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas."

I am also saddened by this event. I will let the facts come out before making any kind of judgement.

I think we need to start dealing with the aftermath of combat. Some of these folks are coming home after having seen things that a 18 year old should never have to see and may not be capable of dealing with.

My understanding is that the man who opened fire was a major and he was a mental health professional who helped returning soldiers deal with symptoms of PTSD and other mental issues. Perhaps he took their pain on hi self and he had no one he could talk too. It is a tragedy that 12 people had to die and 31 more were injured. IIRC, we (the US Government) has still not fully acknowledged or accepted the agent orange issues from Viet Nam. I hope we do not make the same mistake with the soldiers who have fought in the ME and other spots on the globe. These men and women have placed their lives on the line for what they believe, the least we can do is to make sure their medical needs are met with out question or delay.

Obviously you weren't sitting in front of your television as I was staring at the vacant podium and awaiting my President to come out and make a statement regarding the tragedy.
After he walked up and hugged whoever the guy was and took the podium....I anxiously awaited something about Ft Hood......but no.........he went on for over two minutes talking about how the conference was a success and thanked this guy and that guy and sucked up for Native American future votes then after two minutes of this he finally made his statement.
I couldn't believe it.....It made me think about the people who have sons and daughters at Hood and anxiously awaiting some word from their President who was now into the community organizing mode instead of being our leader. What an idiot. Total lack of leadership and priorities.
That's the facts Jack..............He made His own judgement not me.

You tell me....

'
Oh my God Gar.........I too feel the pain.

Apparently you've missed the part about his blogging and making statements going after the aggressor, use suicide bombs and so on.....

"He said, precisely, that maybe the Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor."

Pain.........

His name appears on radical Internet postings. A fellow officer says he fought his deployment to Iraq and argued with soldiers who supported U.S. wars. He required counseling as a medical student because of problems with patients.

Good try dude but its old copy.......Obama made a fool out of himself yesterday not nine or so years ago........A fool on youtube........and proven...........

Obama made a fool out of himself yesterday
He was there to give a speech at the conclusion of the Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Interior Department and the White House. These were leaders from many of the 564 federally recognized American Indian tribes.

Rather than go forward with his speech, he gave brief remarks to address the conference, then addressed the tragedy that was still unfolding at Ft. Hood. His remarks were appropriate and timely.

It made me think about the people who have sons and daughters at Hood and anxiously awaiting some word from their President who was now into the community organizing mode instead of being our leader. What an idiot.

The Post Commander, Lieutenant General Robert W. Cone, would be the one to be contacting the sons and daughters, not the President.

Obviously you cannot see that due to the blind hatred you feel towards our President.

What we have is another practitioner of this "religion" committing more acts of savagery in the name of their "God".

I guess you,as a progressive liberal and me leaning right,I'm a hate mongering racist who can't deal with the fact that my President is a Black man.
Once again you make a foolhardy and asinine assumption ignoring the obvious.

If you failed to notice he went into a two minute diatribe like I stated previously instead of immediately addressing the crisis and offering some type of reassurance to those who have loved ones at Hood as to what was evolving.
Who stated Obama would be notifying anyone?

I harbor no hatred for Barack Obama POTUS.......
Just because I do not agree with him surrounding himself with extreme left leaning Marxist/Communist advisors and promoting Socialist/Marxist principles and agendas does in no way say I hate the man.You simply perceive dissent as hatred due to your liberal hatred of all from the right.

I'll remember you in my prayers if you don't object to God......

From the official Obama pet peacock....a scathing rebuke from his own media outlet:

Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting

A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.

You make the call or excuse......

According Chicago's Dictator Richard Daley, “Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don’t blame a group.â€￾

Just blame the guns???

What a tool!

America does have a love affair with weapons, guns in particular. Guns were designed to make killing more efficient. I do not think what Daley is saying is to blame the guns, but rather our love affair with them. The NRA and their supporters want virtually no restrictions on the purchase and use of weapons. The other side want to place restrictions on purchase and use and yet others want to limit the type of weapons that can be purchased.

A large portion of the people in the US own guns. Why we are surprised when a gun is used in a crime is beyond me. That is the same as being surprised that a car is involved in a vehicle accident. Guns are the most effective way of committing a crime so of course a majority of the crimes committed will involve a gun. From what I have read the lack of enforcement against violent crimes has quite a few contributing factors - over crowded jails, lack of police/detective man power to name a few.

I think I have mentioned before that I would like to see guns treated like cars. They all have ID numbers on them so I do not see the big deal. All weapons need to be registered at point of sale and should continue to be registered till they are destroyed. I would like to see all weapons brought in for inspection (mainly to confirm ownership/possession) once a year. Any sales must include a transfer of title just like a car. If you loose your weapon or it is stolen, you are responsible for reporting it as stolen. Failure to inspect or report your weapons status would result in a fine. Possession of a weapon not licensed to the individual would result in the confiscation of the weapon and a fine/imprisonment tot he person in possession. Selling a weapon to someone with out the proper back ground checks or failing to transfer title would also be punishable.

I am not of the opinion that ownership of a gun is a right granted by the 2nd amendment. Having said that, the possession of guns is ingrained in our society and I do not see that changing so there needs to be some sort of compromise.
