Nice post. A lot of truth to what you said. The leadership at US has been nothing but blunder after blunder since 1989.

Nosey

And guess who gets to pay for all these blunders? Surely not the above mentioned, they are all enjoying their retirement millions and their lifetime SP travel on USAirways that they were awarded for their stellar job performance by the BOD.

That's what really burns me up. The BOD should add a clause to the exec's contract that if they fail to perform as expected their "Golden Parachutes" turn to lead, any bonuses should be merit based and that doesn't include just showing up to shuffle papers around. They should meet defined expectations that are reality based.

And here's a novel idea: let the employees have a part in the exec's yearly reviews.

[P]Great post on history and reasons for our current situation. So now that everything is cleared up and we all know the causes...What now, and how to we get from here to there? Is there an answer? Is there hope? I read everything except a solid rational solution to the very real and big problems facing everyone of us on these boards. If someone has the answer, PLEASE, stand up and shout! Wolf and Gangwal are rewarded a nice pension for the great job they did. It is always the employees who get screwed for management fu## ups.

Excellent post....I agree that it all started the downhill slide when "Uncle Ed" bailed out and left Seth with one hell of a mess to deal with. The BA deal that Seth got did give us a boost of cash we needed at the time, also remeber that Seth had to sell some of the 733's to raise cash. Ed was good in his early days, but not after the mergers. Another wise move he made with the F-100 fleet..why when the 732's and the DC-9 had almost the same capacity. He knew what was on the horizon when he left....Thanks a bunch.

While we are on the subject, lets not forget Papa Ed's attitude (which was mirrored by many AL employees) that USAir knows best and we bought you. PSA owned the West Coast, now we don't know where it is.

And, Wolf and Gangwal great adventure into information technology, SABRE.

And from Wolf and Gangwal again, US doen't need regional jets, the markets will expand to be able to operate our coming Airbuses. Yep, you read it right. During their first pilot negotiations, this was their line. Thats why the pilot contact had such a strong scope clause, Mr. Wolf didn't think we would need them. 2 years later, they say we need 400 of them.

Quit changing your screen name Boof. It's getting to the point of needing a score card to keep track of you.

Is it just me or does anyone else get fried when a retired corporate VP's family member checks in to fly first class for free positive space.
