Air merger could be boon to Indy, airport
ATA has adopted the same strategy, straying from its Chicago Midway hub, for example, to fly a Honolulu-Phoenix-Denver route in its alliance with Southwest Airlines.
"We're looking for any scheduling that makes money," said John Denison, ATA chief executive.
That strategy soon could lead to the first regular ATA European service from Chicago Midway for Southwest.
"At some period of time, Southwest and ATA could decide to do something in the international world," Denison said. "That's a possibility in the next two or three years, hopefully sooner."
For now, he said, "We're still trying to figure out how to make a dollar and save as many jobs as we can. I think we're doing a reasonable job at that."
