Over on Flyer Talk these threads are incredibly popular.

So I thought that with more airline employees on this sight it might be fun to see:

Who flys US

How they Behave

Employee Impressions.

I've flown with Donovan McNabb and "Chocolate Thunder" Daryll Dawkins. Dawkins is funny as heck, especially with his purple velous jogging attire. VERY friendly and affable.

Ok Kids your turn

A few years ago, Charles Barkley in First--PHX-PHL. The line of women who gave him their number was unbelievable. Oh, I guess it was more than a few years ago, I remember they served tomato soup on that flight and the A was "too much navy in the galley, too much navy."

Pink, LAX-PHL in First. This was when US was serving the "boxed" meals in First. She sent her box back and then got mad because the service cart was blocking the galley. One of the F/A's announced that Pink was on board and had her sign his shirt in black magic marker.

My best was Rodney Dangerfield. New Year's Day about 1985 0700 Buffalo to LaGuardia

He came on the plane, very quietly, wearing a long trench coat and dark sunglasses. He sat in the 1st window emergency exit row on the old DC-9, a/c right. There were maybe 30 people on the whole flight and we all knew immediately who he was.

At our comfortable cruising altitude, as we went through the cabin, I asked him if he wanted a drink (back then we didn't always bring out the cart) and he smiled slightly and shook his head. He then proceeded to open the trench coat and pulled out the following: A box of cereal, a quart of milk, a large wooden salad bowl, two wooden salad spoons and a cloth napkin. After tucking the napkin in under his chin, he dumped the cereal in the bowl and doused it with the milk. And then, he ate it all. Every bit of cereal from the box and all the milk.

All three of us were watching from the forward galley while trying to maintain our dignity and not fall over laughing. When we went through the cabin to clean up, as one of the other f/a's went through collecting trash, she stopped at his row and he again just shook his head and smiled. He then wiped his bowl and spoons clean with his clothe napkin and then proceeded to place his bowl, sppons, empty cereal box and milk carton back into the pockets of his trench coat. Shortly agfeter that, we landed in LaGuardia.

Rodney Dangerfield walked off the plane in New York never having said a word, and entertained us more than his jokes could have ever done.

Just had Tyrese gibson..(Singer)...he slept... Had Tommie Lee from Motley Crue last year. A good friend of mine loves him, and though I was embaressed to ask him..he called her from my cell phone..(tacky I know).. He looked a hot mess and smelled like a bar..but he was cool over-all...

Back in June of 2000, I flew US from RDG to PIT to LAX switch over to Terminal 3? to Reno Air/AA. As I was walking outside down the sidewalk in LA, I saw Ringo Starr standing outside the entry way and I walked by and said to him "You are Ringo Starr?" He replied "Yes" and I shook his hand. Then when I boarded the flight in Los Angeles for San Jose, he was right behind me. I sat in the back and the person who was across the aisle from me was starring up and I said "That is Ringo Starr. If this plane would crash, we'll get some extra headlines"

And in February 2004 in LA, I was flying LAX-JFK on UA, and I saw Dennis Franz board our plane before they boarded everyone else. I didn't say anything to him. Never really watched NYPD Blue. Only saw him from the movie City of Angels.

Can't remember all the details, but back at AWA in the pre-merger days fitness guru Richard Simmons made some headlines in the PHX area by slapping another passenger in the customer service line in PHX. I believe he got a day or two in sheriff Joe's celebrity jail (the same one Dougie spent 24 hrs in after his DWI). If I remember right the passenger he slapped was either a pro or semi-pro wrestler. I'm wondering if anyone has further details as I read this in the AZ Republic and wasn't actually there.

Back in the BAC days I was on a flight with Gloria Holtz.

She was flying non-rev. Had a cosmetic case the size of two rolled up sleeping bags. Didn't need it. She was a doll.

Mickey Rooney and one of his sons DAY-LAX. He's nice, and very talkative. He's a pilot and wanted to talk about airplanes.

Had Pat Boone and Lorenzo Lamas on the same flight one day.

Sissy Spacek hiding in a window seat trying not to be seen (before the days Piedmont had a first class cabin.) Didn't get her autograph....she really didn't look interested in any attention.

Willie Mays, God rest his soul, was very outgoing.

Sat in Envoy behind Greg Louganis PHL-PBI (had to tell the flight attendant who he was.)

Sat in Envoy behind one of the Baldwin brothers (not sure which one, but it wasn't Alec.)

Had Willard Scott show up 3 seconds before pushback in a snow storm at Grand Rapids one pre-dawn morning.

Tony Bennett flew along on a short flight (Rochester to BWI, I think.)

Tipper Gore was onboard during the 2000 campaign (along with a crowd of Secret Service agents.)

Flew Governor Pete Wilson (California) from Sacramento to LAX. (Have no idea why he didn't use the state airplane.)

Art Garfunkle hid away in the last row of coach. The flight attendant spotted him, but it didn't appear anyone else even recognized him. Sad.

Billy Carter rode along in coach after Jimmy had left the White House and he already had his cancer diagnosis. He was quite subdued...had a deer-in-the-headlights look.

Haven't seen any celebrities on USAirways flights in years. Probably because we really don't go non-stop to places they frequent and/or they avoid US just because.

Haven't seen any celebrities flying on USAirways in many years, though.

One route that often has celebs is the very short, LAX-LAS-LAX, particularly on Fridays. Every "dancer" and adult movie industry performer seems to make that pilgrimage routinely. However, on this route I have seen amongst others, Billy Crystal, Lou Ferrigno, Kathy Hilton and Jeff ( if you think the Star Spangled Banner ends with "Gentlemen start your engines"....you may be a) Foxworthy.

I have flown, Gerald Ford, Barbara Bush, Dick Gebhardt, Kit Bond and more recently Rudy Giuliani.

During charters, Phoenix Coyotes, Suns, Diamondbacks, Oakland A's, San Diego Chargers. Many of the players are incredibly nice people, but I would have loved to have met Willie Mays. My favorite player I met was the base stealing champ at the time Lou Brock.

There are dozens of others I have seen on flights, but the nicest celeb I ever met was a 20 year old Brooke Sheilds. Most obnoxious celeb, tie between Joan Rivers and Geraldo Rivera. Strange they have similar last names.

I've flown:

Brian Wilson (Sat in first while rest of family sat in coach.)

Flavor-Flav (Was a complete gentleman.)

Gene Simmons (Behaved himself. I told him goodnight in Hebrew and he ignored me. Such chuztpah.)

David Lander aka Squiggy on Laverne and Shirley (Sat silently in coach and needed a wheelchair. He has MS.)

Pete Rose rode the redeye LAS-PHL last December. (Sat in first and wasn't recognized.)

We lost Kathy Griffin's luggage. She was OK about it, but my god, without makeup she's totally different!!!

Had Michael Kors and his BF on a few of our flights, and of course the MTV Real World kids - none of them were outgoing until the cameras appeared (HMMMMM!?!?!)

Had Morley Safer on a DC-9 in Louisville. As the Captain, I had to cancel the flight due to a bad, bad mechanical. Morley was irate. I told him, "I wouldn't put my wife or kids on this plane until they fix what's broken". He didn't care.

One time, a flight attendant came up and said, "There's a dude in First Class that I think is a famous golfer....but I'm not sure. His name is Lee Trevino". I told her, "Go tell him that he and the Captain both have something in common. We've both been struck by lightning....although I had an aluminum tube around me at the time".

She came back 5 minutes later. She said, "He told me to tell you that he's been struck not once, but twice.....and neither time had an aluminum tube around him!"

Funny.

I recently saw Geraldo Rivera standing in the middle of the CO PC Club in CLE. He was just standing there looking like he wanted to be noticed.

We could/should? Start a whole thread on the Mis/Adventures of one Gerald Rivers, the nice jewish boy AKA Geraldo Rivera.
