I think it was an accident. Why tip your hand and let the enemy know you can pop up in the middle of the fleet? I bet the captain of the sub is in deep crap. They have probably been tailing us for years and now that we know their abilityes, the Navy will be looking into counter measures and changing tactics.

Good thing were are getting Iraq under control. They posed a huge danger to ......?

Yeah, I definitely think this was intentional. The Chinese have been pulling these submarine stunts for a while now. I think it was 3 years ago when they essentially did the same thing in Japanese waters. Otherwise, there navy is riddled with mistakes.

The USN appears to have been caught with it's pants down !


Having said that, I lived(2 years ago) in GROTON CT,(think General Dynamics......USN Sub builders), I have seen(on a very RARE day) these boats coming ang going up the Thames river to the Sub Base, and just the sight of them would send a shiver(good and bad) up my spine.

Why ?

Assuming the russians are "LOW" on nuclear boats, NO NAVY in the world, is more POWERFUL, than the USN ! (YES, liberal ol' me was a sailor)
The "things" On board those boats are "Unthinkable" !!!

And,
If, as has been suggested, that there is a full scale nuke war coming, if I had 1 choice were I could be..."when/If" it happens......It would be on board a USN Nuke boat !!!!!!!!!


Oh, by the way. THE current "boat" being constructed as we speak, is the.....SSN New Hampshire

Our 'secrets' have been 'economically' compromised.
I hear what you say and I have nothing against ‘squids’ 😛 , but the reality is that we build very little of ‘anything’ in this country anymore and to believe otherwise is not prudent.

What the hell do you expect...they are now manufacturing most of the worlds hi-tech machinery and such...its only a matter of time as they surpass us.Wasn't it Karl Marx who said he'd sell the capitalists the rope which he would hang them?
That sub popped up for only one thing and one thing only...to show the great US Superpower that they ain't the only game in town.

Yup, I agree with ya' Dell(on the "pop up"), but the silver lining in this cloud(I HOPE) is to WAKE UP the Navy, so we won't be debating a story like this again !!!!!!!!!!
