The trouble for Continental is that every $1 rise in the price of a barrel of oil boosts the airline's total fuel costs for the year by $38 million


NEW YORK (Dow Jones) - Continental Airlines Inc. is trying again to boost its fares across the board to cover the rising cost of fuel. And again, rival low-cost airlines are refusing to go along.

Gasoline Price Hits Record 4th Day in Row

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Weekend motorists take note: U.S. retail gasoline prices hit a record for the fourth day in a row in a daily survey of pump prices by the American Automobile Association, the AAA said on Friday.

As to the price of gas...........a bottle of water, Coke, milk, or beer costs more per gallon than gas, and our fat , lazy society seems more than willing to walk in the 711 after filling up and purchace all of the above witout complaint (WATER for gosh sakes, they are buying WATER). In fact, gas is no more expensive than the early 70's, when adjusted for inflation. Do I care about the cost of gas as it relates to aviation and our jobs?..of course.
