Recently a PHX based FA was issued a very firm letter from Inflight Services because this FA chose to upgrade a uniformed military soldier returning home from a tour in the Middle East to a vacant First Class seat. The letter stated that this Flight Attendant had engaged in "Company Theft of Services".

I do know that the letter is fact, but their is also rumor out there that this Flight Attendant may have been suspended for the act of caring and generosity provided to this member of the armed forces. I cannot confirm the suspension at this time, but I do know that a letter was issued and placed in the Flight Attendant's file.

I am beyond disgusted!

And yet there is someone above that supervisor who pets them on the head for being so vigilant and looking out for the company.

Probably reported by a fellow flight attendant (who else would know?)

Sad, but not surprising. A few years ago, before the Tempe takeover, I was flying in F/C on as US flight The F/A upgraded an man in his 80s who was wearing a hat labeled "WW II vet" and "Korean War". As a 17 year old, he had joined the Navy on 8 December, 1941 and served on carriers in the Pacific. He re enlisted in the Korean War. He did not get around to graduating high school for 60 years. When he did join, as US Senator and the city's mayor attended the ceremony. What an honor to meet the man.

I commend any F/A who moves a Vet or member of the military to F/C (gate agents used to do, but are too scared to do it anymore). Shame on Tempe.

Did Doug and Scooter ever serve?

Scooter was a student at the United States Air Force Academy, I believe.

It's a shame that this airline (with a rendition of the US Flag for a corporate logo) would reprimand an employee for trying to be nice to a young man or woman in miltary uniform who has been selflessly trying to hold back the enemy that wants to take down our planes in the first place.

Theft of services? Were they going to recycle any unused FC food? Or does the company consider providing a few free drinks to a returning war vet to be theft? The seat was apparently going to be vacant.

It sounds like MGD better get on this PR nightmare in a hurry.

FC food? This is US Airways, we're talking about!

If any of this can be confirmed, it's time to the AZ Republic and some TV stations know.

What is REQUIRED for this to be used in a way to embarass US is for "Someone" to

  • Get a copy of the letter.
  • Redact the name and personal information of the F/A
  • Scan the document and save it as a PDF
  • Set up a untraceable e-mail at an internet cafe
  • Broadcast the document to every media outlet possible
  • It should also be sent to ALL Labor organizations

Do this and someone, someplace will be having a slow news day and run with the story.

Also there is a web site that on the surface looks like a consumer aviation site that is really a front for the SEIU. Something like this would get prominent exposure on their site.

As for Doug Parker serving the only apparent serving Doug has done is to be OVERSERVED by those young apprentice Bartenders at a Country Club a while back.

I wish I didn't see this thread, but it makes me so mad I had to respond. The flight attendant should have been rewarded not reprimanded for making this decision. It would be one thing if the flight attendant pulled a paying passenger out of a full first class without them volunteering in order to allow the soldier to upgrade, but this was not the case. As a paying passenger, that generosity for a soldier goes a long way in my opinion of the company and the employees that work for it. I'd rather see a soldier sitting up front then a empty seat in the event that some nut tried to storm the cockpit. I can't imagine a verbal complaint by a passenger about upgrading military would sit very well with all the other people on board. There is always a few idiots on a plane, but most are decent people. Doug has got to address this before I give another dime towards this company.

First of all, thank you to all of our Military and their families for your sacrifice!!!!!

Now if this is true, this does need to be blasted from the top of every mountain. Total garbage to accuse an employee of theft for doing something kind to someone who has sacrificed so much to ensure our freedom but what do you expect from this crappy company. (Not directed at the employees- everyone knows what is going on and what you have to deal with.) When I flew for usair (shudder at the flashback), not only did I upgrade military personnel but I GAVE THEM FREE DRINKS IN THE BACK. Hey Tempe!!! Pucker and plant it!!!!

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE READY TO SACRIFICE THEIR OWN LIVES TO KEEP ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS FROM BLOWING YOUR AIRPLANES FROM OUT OF THE SKY!!!!!!!! TREAT THEM WITH KINDNESS AND RESPECT!!!!!!! UPGRADE THEM, DON'T CHARGE THEM FOR AN EXTRA BAG!!! DO LIKE DELTA DOES AND MAKE A PA AT THE START OF THE FLIGHT AND THANK OUR SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN FOR THEIR MILITARY SERVICE!!!!!

Sheesh!
