In spite of their criticism of unions in Wisconsin, AlterNet has confirmed that leading right-wing pundits are American Federation Television and Radio Artists union members.

Gee what hypocrites

Red Herring my little socialist buddy. I recall Hannity and Rush mention it several times in the past. You cant be on the air without carrying a union card. That's how the union has the industry in a lock out. That doesn't mean that you have to support the idea of a union just because your are forced to pay dues or belong to one.

In my younger years I actually belonged to a union as a requirement of being employed. Was i a union supporter? Absolutely not. The job is not the union. The job is the company you work for.

Those mentioned have brought their union affiliation up many times in the past on the air.

So where we at here?....

Exactly, pretty funny all the libtards wetting themselves over it tho.

No one is forced is to join a union, not having a right to work law just means you can negotiate a master agreement that allows for a closed shop.

For someone who was a shop steward and you reaped great benefits for being in a union, your views baffle me.

I guess you just want the middle class wiped out and become master and servant again.

No one is forced is to join a union,

If you want to work at a certain job and it happens to be unionized, then yes you are forced to join.

It means that he can be objective after experiencing both sides. Not brainwashed into some class warfare bs.

I guess you just want the middle class wiped out and become master and servant again.

See brainwashed comment above...

So those right wing extremists most likely joined because of a closed shop.

How in most cases does one become a shop steward at US Air?

Because no one else wants to......

They can become a dues objector, no one gets a free ride, why should they enjoy the protection, wages and benefits that the union negotiated and cost them, for free while others pay?

I dont want to pay my mortgage, so the bank is gonna raise your payment so I can live for free.

You posted this attempting to make them look hypocritical and in the end it looks like they most likely were required to join. So what's the point then?

... Or they can choose not to work at said company.

You know, kind of along the same lines as the "if you don't like it, leave" mantra we hear so often at DL.

No one is forced to become a rep...

Why should someone get the benefits of a CBA, yet not pay for the cost in achieving that?

You choose a job for the work it entails. A union has nothing to do with it. It doesn't create the company nor the job. Rather a parasite that feeds off the backs of the workers.

No one is forced to become a rep...

You are correct about that. From personal experience, no one wants to.....no one went to meetings, but everyone wanted to know what was going on. That's why unionism is dying in this country no matter how high you get watching the Walker chronicles.
Most up there now are ISO members, DSA and what have you.

Can't speak from what went on at US, but in my experience, the biggest issue with attendance was the poor timing of meetings. At my old local, they were they were in the early evening, which meant 2nd shift guys couldnt make it, and most people that had families were at home, or doing whatever (we weren't large enough to have multiple ones like in the hubs). Besides moving a lot of stuff online, the advent of things like LiveMeeting could go a long way toward raising active participation. Some locals are already doing that, but there's a lot that aren't...
