Can't speak from what went on at US, but in my experience, the biggest issue with attendance was the poor timing of meetings. At my old local, they were they were in the early evening, which meant 2nd shift guys couldnt make it, and most people that had families were at home, or doing whatever (we weren't large enough to have multiple ones like in the hubs). Besides moving a lot of stuff online, the advent of things like LiveMeeting could go a long way toward raising active participation. Some locals are already doing that, but there's a lot that aren't...

They had shifts pretty much covered with meetings...but most of the time they didn't have enough members to do business after 3-11 and 11-7. Then later they combined some meetings.......It didn't matter much.

One thing I remember was some of the guys were on the AMFA kick......one asked the AMFA rep what they were going to for him...Guy said ''nothing, you're going to do it for yourself'......I thought, not here.

Well you can be, it's just not logical. Which is why I could never be a Democrat. They ALWAYS play the Class Warfare card at every opportunity and frankly I find it offensive.

Socialism by its very nature is not an option in a nation whose founding premise it that the rights of the individual reign supreme over those of the state.

The Republicans are often just as socialist as their colleagues across the aisle. The Earned Income Tax Credit for working families is one of the largest of the various and sundry programs out there and was put into law by????? Does the name NIXON ring a bell? Thought it might. 😀

This is why I say the current two party system is nothing more than two wings on the same bird of prey. I you collect a paycheck NEITHER of the them have your best interests at heart. While they were elected to serve "we the people", what we actually have is a government that through taxation and decree (ex Order) seeks to have each of us subservient, if not down right enslaved.

A third party that represents the intentions of the founding fathers of this country with a limited government, promoting individual freedom & liberty for all citizens were to take hold and garner 10 to 15 % of the popular vote then they hold the other parties hostage to a certain extent through the electoral college as they control the balance of power. This little factoid is why the Republicrats & Demicans are soiling their collective lawn clothes over the tea party movement which is beginning to look more and more like a political party every day.

So in some ways Barack Obama IS a great POTUS. Great in that he galvanized an entire population into action with his highly socialistic agenda. Had Obama not become POTUS do you honestly think we would know Scott Walkers name? Or have a tea party that has nothing to do with steeped oolong and scones? Say what you will but as a result of his election this country is starting to have a frank dialog about our direction for the future and that conversation is not going quite like old Mr Hope & Change wanted it to. Bad for him. Good for Freedom & Liberty
