Continental Airlines Inc. and Brazilian airline TAM Linhas Aéreas SA on Tuesday signed a reciprocal frequent flyer program agreement.

Flyers who are members of the TAM Fidelidade program will be able to earn and redeem miles on flights operated by Houston-based Continental. Similarly, members of Continental’s OnePass program will be able to earn and redeem miles on TAM flights.

The deal is part of TAM’s efforts to join the Star Alliance, which is expected to be finalized in May. The airline flies to 43 destinations in Brazil.

Continental (NYSE: CAL) joined the Star Alliance last October.
