The US Airways Group, said that it would furlough another 2,500 workers over the next six months as it searches for ways to shrink its heavy cost load. The airline said it had started meeting with its unionized labor groups to talk about changes in work rules and other measures that could cut more costs but would still adhere to protections given to workers when they agreed to sign cheaper contracts. The furloughs, which US Airways said would affect all of its work groups, come on top of $1.3 billion in annual cost savings already secured by the airline as it restructures.
