A body was found in the wheel well of a Delta Air Lines flight from Africa when it landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Friday morning, airline spokeswoman Betsy Talton said Friday.

The flight had left Dakar, Senegal, more than nine hours before the body of the stowaway was found. No additional details were available pending an investigation by federal and local law enforcement.

Oh great. Has anyone heard from Doug Parker or Scott Kirby?

No, but strangely Greenstein has not been seen in his office this morning.

Back to serious business though. Most of the poeple who attempt this unfortunately expire due to one of many ways
1. massive trauma from being crushed
2. Oxygen depravation
3. Hypothermia
4. Falling out when the gear is extended for landing

A very lucky few do survive.

On an even stranger note this is not the first time it has occured on a Dakar flight. SAA had a similar incident on a JNB-DKR-JFK flight.

Stowaway background

How bizarre. I just read about it. It's definitely something you don't hear about often.

Happens more often than you would think out of third world nations. I recall hearing about one or more bodies found per year out of various countries in South America heading north to Miami in the wheel well's of aircraft (usually freighters) upon arrival.
