"Since its opening, our employees have transformed the Tampa facility into one of the safest and most productive maintenance operations," said Jim Maucere, vice president of Maintenance Base Operations. "Thanks to their hard work, the award winning Tampa maintenance facility is key to Delta's long term success and a great asset to both Delta and the Tampa Airport Authority."

In 1984, Delta relocated its aircraft maintenance base from Miami International Airport to Tampa International Airport. Representing a $20 million investment, the new hangar and maintenance facility enabled Delta to perform major inspection and modification maintenance functions in Tampa. The 10.4 million cubic foot space had a 400-foot clear span opening and, at that time, was the second longest in the country. Currently, the Tampa Technical Operations facility performs maintenance on Delta's fleet of MD-88 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft and Song's fleet of Boeing 757 aircraft.

Delta's Technical Operations Division, staffed by more than 10,000 maintenance professionals from around the world, provides maintenance and engineering support services for Delta's fleet of aircraft in addition to a number of customer aircraft. Services range from project engineering to comprehensive turnkey agreements that provide all aircraft maintenance services to its customers.

Delta Air Lines is proud to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2004. As the world's second largest airline in terms of passengers carried and the leading U.S. carrier across the Atlantic, Delta offers 7,318 flights each day to 487 destinations in 82 countries on Delta, Song, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection and Delta's worldwide partners. Delta was the first U.S. airline to operate regional jets and currently utilizes the largest RJ fleet. Delta is a founding member of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance that provides customers with extensive worldwide destinations, flights and services. For more information, please visit delta.com.
