Delta expects to soar after exiting Chapter 11

Interesting article which emphasizes how Delta
revamped its route structure and utilized its aircraft
in a more efficient manner.

If you notice it does not blame Delta's financial
condition on the so called bloated salaries of the
employees as US, UA, and NW did. I believe DL employees
have recently received a lump sump payout as well as
having some of their paycuts being lessened.

The pilots did take their pension hit which is very
unfortunate. They are receiving stock in the post
bankruptcy DL but that probably will not cover the
difference from the PGB.

About the bolded portion: Although the article may not have placed "blame" on the bloated salaries, the DALPA pilots are now paid $1.3 billion less per year than before their pre-bankruptcy paycut (which totaled $1.0 billion/year). Like it or not, DL spent and spent and spent its cash balance on pilot salaries leading up to the pre-bankruptcy paycut and the eventual Ch 11 filing.

Don't get me wrong: Delta had lots of problems in addition to bloated pilot salaries, which the article aptly summarizes. The domestic widebody proliferation was a huge one.

After reading the article, even I'm almost fired up about Delta's chances.
