Delta must change mgmt

Before I'm flamed let me preface this by saying the statements in the article do not take a position on a merger just on the current upper management team.

Can Delta Survive as an Independent Carrier? Asks Strategist and Author

P.S. its also kind of funny that he mentions Mike Boyd and his so called "neutrality"

Yes, Harry Nolan, the man who has been profiting from Delta's bankruptcy. A self proclaimed "industry expert" who couldn't get any of the major publishing houses to buy his book, so he self published.

Interesting views of his on the operational side of the airline. Within its competitive set, Delta has in fact made very significant and tangible improvements in KPI's, and we will probably see that continue.

I did read his book, and I don't know what he has against Jim Whitehurst. He just slams the guy and doesn't give any real reason for it other than the fact that Whitehurst is a young guy for the position he's holding.

Of course, Mr. Nolan also leaves out key facts, like the fact that Delta is now turning quarterly operational PROFITS and that RASM numbers show that the market has absorbed Delta's increased international capacity quite nicely. Guess you have to take it for what it is.

I had to go back and re read this. Nolan calls for Hollis Harris to come back to DL. Hollis Harris is a good man but has demonstrated little ability to actually RUN an airline. He was booted out of CO by the board for Bethune. The BOD made the move after Hollis asked them to join him in prayer for the company to turn around. Not quite the leadership that CO needed or was looking for.

Sorry but there seems to be more personal "feeling" in this article than any real insight.

Didn't he end up with Air Canada for a while, then on to World Airways? I recall his name surfacing a few years ago when US was looking for someone to take the drivers seat.

I read his book "Airline With0ut A Pilot" and he had my attention until he praised Charaf, SVP of maintenance, for bringing in sick sigma as I call it. Charaf is a misfit who has bungled any area he has been in. He also praised Jerry Grinstein who was a contributing person in the hiring of Leo Mullins. He praised any entity in this airline who might be of use to him informationally now or in the future. Any article by this person should be discarded as self serving. Just my opinion.
