CNN is reporting today that Delta, Continental and NorthWest have reached an agreement where they will all begin to sell seats on each other's carrier. Details are still sketchy but Delta is scheduled to make a "major announcement" sometime today. Is this a Prelude to a Merger?

With the undeniable trouble the industry is in right now, regulators may be hard pressed not to turn their backs and allow carriers to do whatever is necessary to stay in the air. The transportation industry drives a lot of the economy, and with Bush on the road stumping for Republicans (hurl) coast to coast (and using our tax dollars to get him there) we might be in for a surprise as to how the feds react to this.

Well, Leo is going about this all wrong. He will need the blessing of the pilot group in order to procede, and I don't think furloughing an additional 50 pilots for October is a good way to say please. The chances of this being approved are slim to none with over 900 pilots furloughed.
