He sure left a crumbling empire here. . . .

Dell CFO Don Carty resigns

(RTTNews) - Monday, Dell Inc. (DELL) announced the resignation of vice chairman and chief financial officer Don Carty, effective June 13, 2008. The company also said that Brian Gladden, head of Sabic Innovative Plastics Holding BV, will succeed Carty as new finance chief. Carty will continue as a member of the company's board, which he joined in 1992.

The Round Rock, Texas-based PC maker said that Gladden will join as senior vice president on May 20 and assume the post of chief financial officer when Carty leaves. He will report to the company's chairman and chief executive officer Michael Dell and will be responsible for all aspects of the company's finance function including accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, audit, and investor relations.

Most recently, Gladden was the president and chief executive officer of Sabic Innovative Plastics, formerly GE Plastics. General Electric Co. (GE) sold the business in August 2007 to Saudi Basic Industries Corp., or Sabic, for $11.6 billion.

During Gladden's tenure, Sabic grew as a global organization with around 10,000 employees and revenues of $7 billion. The company operates 60 manufacturing and technology facilities in 20 countries.

Gladden's previous experience includes nearly 20 years with GE in a variety of financial and management leadership roles. He served as vice president and general manager of GE Plastics' resin business, chief financial officer of GE Plastics and vice president and chief financial officer of GE Medical Systems Healthcare IT business.

FULL STORY

Well thanks for pointing it out. However, with that topic Title, 'what a surprise' I never would have guessed . . . it could have been about anything.

They can't be too upset at him, if at all - he's still on Dell's board of directors.

He sort of stepped in when the other CFO was fired, so it shouldn't be a great shock that he'd bow out when they found someone who really wanted the job.
