FAA: Lasers beams hit more than 20 aircraft overnight
More than 20 aircraft were struck while in flight over at least 16 U.S. cities, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration. Authorities said three strikes were reported to the FAA in the New York City area, followed by three in Texas that hit jets that were preparing to land.
“None of the pilots reported injuries,” according to the statement. “Nevertheless, shining a laser at an aircraft is a federal crime that the U.S. vigorously pursues. Lasers distract pilots from their safety duties and can lead to temporary blindness during critical phases of flight, such as takeoff and landing. In some cases in the past, pilots have reported eye injuries that required medical treatment.”

Crazy Eh?

Unbelievable! Yep, the crazies are out there.

When caught...
In February 2012, it became a federal crime to interfere with the operation of an aircraft.

According to the FBI, the offense is punishable by up to 20 years behind bars, a $250,000
fine. In 2014, the FBI announced that it will pay up to $10,000 for information leading to
the arrest of anyone aiming a laser at an aircraft.

A bit far-fetched but just a thought…

What if… this was practice for a well planned, coordinated and synchronized
terrorist attack to bring down aircraft simultaneously in some of these locations?

I hope not.

Considering the low level of intelligence shown by some of them, no.  One guy who was doing the laser shots, lasered a news helicopter that was hovering over him.  He was arrested immediately after the copter landed and the guy was shown on video firing the laser.  This bunch couldn't organize a funeral procession, much less a coordinated terrorist attack.
