Flying non-rev on Delta

A friend of mine gave me a buddy pass on Delta, and I want to know how the non-rev system in delta works, I mean, like, check in (how many hours prior your flight you are allowed), Delta uses first come - first serve system or goes by seniority ??; what is the dress code ??; How do I get an upgrade ??

It is going to be my first time flying on Delta Airlines( actually If I make the flight of course), I non rev all the time in USAir but I just want to be aware of the rules or whatever you want to call in flying non rev in another airline, that's all, thanks in advance.

The absolute best point of contact for using a buddy pass is the employee who gave it too you...they are totally responsible for your behavior while traveling on their pass and will be very careful to make sure they have answered your questions...
