Some very important steps in our near future will be the vote on the Association and then the Harmonizing of the two CBA’s. The Association vote will be the same as any representation vote if the Association isn’t voted in we would lose our current CBA. With no CBA we become “At Will Employees”. That means you can be fired for no reason. You lose all the negotiated rights of pay, seniority, transfers, and riff procedures, just to name a few.

Thisabove paragraph is an exerpt from Gary Yingst letter to the members of local 514 and the entire letter can be accesssed by link above or go to www.twu591.org
The issue with the last paragraph in the letter is that he is misleading the members that there will be only 2 choices on the ballot and placing fear about losing your representation if you do not vote in the alliance.  "any representational vote"  will be required to have 3 choices on the ballot under the scenario the TWU presents. If there is a reprsentational vote the ballot will consist of:
TWU/IAM ALLIANCE ______
No Union   ________
Other  _________

The reason for the "NO Union choice" on the ballot is due to changes from the National mediation Board who runs the representational elections. The old rule was in an election (ex. TWU vs IAM)  there was no choice on the ballot for :NO union" because 50% +1 of the overall union membership would have to vote in the election to show proof to the NMB that you wanted a union. If less than 50% +1 did not vote the NMB would decertify the union for lack of interest and you would have no union. EX: if you have 10,000 members, 5001 had to vote to keep union certification.
The new and current rule;
The vote for representation does not require 50% +1 to keep union certification. Now the NMB has added the selection on the ballot of "NO UNION" in lieu of proving union certification by members voting.
It is written in the above letter "The Association vote will be the same as any representation vote", with that said, the letter fails to state that  in any representational election with the NMB there is always a selection of OTHER______ better known as a "write in" for any representational organization of your choice. this choice is as valid as voting for the alliance or "NO UNION".  You can "write in" (teamsters,AMFA......etc) and is a valid vote in the election. Just for the record, you will have 3 choices as i stated above.  You may be told by twu supporters that if you :"write in" another union representation in the "other" selection it will not count. That is false and ask them to  put it writing and sign what they are stating if it is so true. I bet they refuse to do it.
Gary Yingst does not want you to know your rights and has a personal motive of getting back in to the International money machine
As far as which selection on the ballot wins;
of the cast ballots, one of the selections must recieve 50% of cast ballots to be declared the winner. EX: Alliance 65%    NO UNION  10%       Other   25% = Alliance wins more than 50% votes
Alliance 25%    NO UNION   10%      Other   65% =  other union wins

Knowledge is power,  just don't listen, ask questions, and make them prove what they say.
The TWU has proven to the leader in misinformation-  "HAD ENOUGH YET"?

What is amazing is that for years now TWU Local 514 has constantly attacked the AMFA as "Not even a Union, it's an Association". And now they ask us to vote in favor of an Association to govern our future.

Figure that one out and give an explanation.

It is amazing that most everything negative the TWU said would happen if we voted in the AMFA, is now a reality under the TWU.

Forked Tongue Idiots!

That have sucked and lied for so long now that "No Union" could well be the choice of many.

It could be interesting.  The Koolaid drinkers will vote for the alliance.  The complacent will either vote no union or not vote at all.  The AMFA guys will write in AMFA.  The biggest question is if the mechanics vote AMFA and FSC and SC vote the alliance, do we have to have enough votes to outvote the other groups?  I wouldn't put it past the NMB to do that to us.

Each group is separate what you do as M&R doesnt effect the ramp or stores and vice versa, three different votes, three different certifications.

I wonder what fear tactics the TWU will attempt with regards to this vote. Job loss? more concessions?  Oh i'm sorry, the TWU already got that for us.

Additionally - as this is a merger situation, once STS has been determined for the combined carrier, there will be a period of time to allow an intervenor to show sufficient interest by filing cards, before an election is set.

If AMFA has the cards, they can file, and be placed as an option on the ballot.

is the vote is split say:
twu/iam alliance 20%
no union 40%
other 40%

will that cause a runoff between the two highest choices?

Given that your example shows none of the 3 as a majority, I think it does?
Yes it would but those two 40% examples would have to be exact. Meaning say 4587 vote other and 4587 vote no union.

if no one reaches 50% +1  then there will be A RUN-OFF election of the top 2 selections only.

You mean like NO UNION and OTHER?
We should be so lucky.

Realistically looking at the possible vote, the Alliance should not get much or a majority support unless the scare tactics play in over reality or a majority of guys ignore to vote.

Except for the comment about what Gary Yingst motivations are and the last paragraph you are 100% correct.

If your write in option IE: IBT, AMFA, CWA, IBEW, UFCW, TWU or IAM receives the majority of votes cast, that will be moving forward your new collective bargaining agent or Union. They will inherit your current CBA and that CBA will stand until you negotiate a new one and it is ratified by your members.

Some of your members Chuck have been advocating the notion of choosing no union. As they trust you, you may want to remind them why this should absolutely not be anyone's option.

No union means you no longer wish to be represented collectively and you place your trust in negotiating directly and individually with the company. You have chosen to be at will and in some States in a "Right To Work State" as well. Of course the company will still need mechanics and will not get rid of the majority of you but they can and more than likely will send more of your OH overseas. And it 100% does mean that you no longer will have a contract and are allowing AA to dictate the new terms of your employment.

You will put yourselves in a position that 2 of the 4 major Airlines in the US are now unrepresented. Besides giving those two airlines (AA and Delta) an advantage percentage wise, you will also be harming your union counterparts at UAL and Southwest as they will have to compete against the non union airlines. That fact could cause even further erosion to wages, jobs, and benefits.

Chose who you want but understand what that choice means and make it a wise decision.
