There is another link that I can't get to work, that reads..."Don't expect ® Arlen Spector Pa, or ® Snowe/Collins from Maine, to be the one(s) to get to 60 votes. To that I AGREE.(need to give Spector/collins and Snowe political cover, since they did "the job" on the "stim")

BUT,

Because your "dying party" has......(count em')......"19" seats up for re-elections in 2010(you got that..RIGHT dell...2010 !!) the game plan will be to make a GOD FATHER like deal..("An offer you CAN'T refuse") to 2/3 OTHER borderline candidates.
Meaning, if they support E F C A , the unions and ALL their money(and their Friends w/multi $ Billions), will NOT go after, the 2/3 "Borderlines" ! (maybe Murkowski of Alaska, or Bond of Mo.)

The stategy is simple. Simply POUR Tons of union $$$ up against the "borderline", making that individual SPEND $$ Money he or she simply does not have for re-election, or with the BAD economy, cannot get the usual expected donations 😱 😱

AND,
The same "potential" lies WAITING for any "weak knee'd" Blue Dog Dems(think Landrieu La./Lincoln + Prior of Arkansas.

Game-Set-Match !!

Dude....you're up way past your bedtime.............now click your heels....

dell,

you KNOW that I sleep(mostly) in the daytime, and "arise" at night(kinda like a BAT)

But seriously, if the statement is already being made...."we're NOT counting on Spector/Snowe/Collins", that means that the Unions have a GOP "patsy or two", already "lined up" !!!!

I just checked on "Wiki", and of the "19" GOPers up for re-election, ONLY "7" are considered safe

I saw(with DELIGHT) first hand here in NH, how the Union Machine can work.
We had a FORMER(considered safe) GOP Senator......John Sununu jr. , who has been "MIA" since 11/4/09.

But HEY.....dell, as a Former Union man like yourself, I know your onboard with more Union Jobs !!!!!

I need to correct a mistake. I wrongly said that Roy Blount was a Mo. senators. MY BAD. Blount is a Mo. congressman.

Huffnpuff Post is almost as reliable as Daily Kos....

Bears, nObama's disapproval ratings have doubled since he took office (12% to 26%), and it's not even 100 days into his Presidency. Congress's is 50/50, and that's up from a 70% disapproval rating prior to the elections. Funny part is that the Dems controlled both houses at that point, too. Give 'em time to bail out a few more failed companies, increase taxes, and find out that propping up people who can't pay their mortgages today just delays how long it takes for them to go into foreclosure.

I give it about two or three months before we start seeing their disaproval ratings head back in the 70's... and this time, you can't try to blame W.

For all those people thinking Barry was going to improve America's image overseas, he really screwed the pooch when it came to Gordon Brown's gift basket... A box set of 25 DVDs he could have bought in England and some plastic toys from the White House Gift Shop. Brown, on the other hand, presented hiw with a pen holder crafted from the wood of a British warship which fought the slave trade (and a sister ship to the HMS Resolute, the wood from which his desk is made from), and a first edition biography of Winston Churchill...

Yep, that box set of movies sure had a lot of thought behind it. Turns out that it was a special interest group from Hollywood who may have been behind it.

To add insult to injury, Obama returned a bust of Churchill that Tony Blair presented to Bush. I'm sure that made PM Brown feel *REAL* good about the gifts selected for Obama and that box set of DVDs.......

Do not for a moment underestimate how much negative impact "Amateur Hour at 1600 Penn" can have on how the 2010 elections.

Not a shining moment for the new POTUS.

A very dumb mistake.

The first of many is my prediction. I'm not seeing anything resembling my definition of Leadership coming from the White House.

I'm embarrassed to say this but what I've seen from Barack Obama makes me long for Bill Clinton. IMO Barack Obama suffers from the same illness that plagues most airline executives. Unbridled Arrogance and outright contempt for the citizenry is a dangerous combination.

Or put another way, The man is all hat and no cattle.
I do not agree with your dire assessment. Time will tell.

There may be no place to learn the actual job of POTUS but the White House, but some of the mistakes he's made so far are things that any executive (be it private or public sector) would have already dealt with at one point or another. There's no way Romney or Clinton would have screwed up the gift basket. They also would have been smart enough to hold a state dinner, if for no other reason than to appear Presidential.

Where I'm a little surprised... I assumed Biden would have been doing most of the damage. Instead, Biden (to his credit) seems to be doing a good job at staying out of the spotlight.

I am quite sure that he will not make the same mistake again.

The way money is being spent, maybe he will throw a billion dollars at the next visitor for good measure!

(A little humor for all you Right Wingers out there)
