Green Funerals, returning to the Old way

I like this idea a lot. It's the way people have done in for years and, frankly, it sounds a hell of a lot cheaper than a typical funeral. Personally, I'd like to be cremated, cause it just appeals to me more than being underground, rotting away. I know it really doesn't matter by that point, but still - what sounds better? Lying underground rotting or having your ashes spread to the free winds?

Was this subject to morbid to comment on or what?

I would expect all the tree huggers to be jumping in by now! perhaps they like the hollywood version.

Like an Ole timer once told me, when he dies just shove a bone up his arse and let the dogs drag him off. I think Im going to choose a green way myself!!!!

Not only is it cheap, but it saves space and feeds our planet!

You beat me to the punch, just wondering though should'nt your screen name have an 'R' between the 'T' and the 'Y'? are you in Big Sky Country by any chance?

Ashes to Ashes....Dust To Dust!

I am game. For me it is a cost issue. I think the amounts of money funeral homes charge to dispose of human remains is obscene. As far as I am concerned, my wife can do what ever is cheapest. For all I care she can take me out on a boat, wrap me in chain and dump me over board. I am dead, why should she have to waste money on a dead person? The idea of some people buying a $5 -$10k + casket amazes me. It's a one time use and the person in it is DEAD for crying out loud. I guess what ever floats your boat.

What are your thoughts? I personally like the Idea!

GOOD POST..."12".

I've requested that my ol' lady, give me a similiar "send off"

"Shake and Bake"...all the way.

Thought you might like to know, that up in that region of Maine, a group of people known as the Passamaquoddy,Micmac, Abenaki, and the Penobscot, have been sending their Elders "off" in a similiar manner.
(been doing it that way for 10,000 + years)(NO surprise though)

Personally, I couldn't care less what happens to my body after I die. I think people place way too much emphasis on things like that and "sacred ground".
