What's new

I Love This

<_< ----- That's great!------ But let's not forget the hands of the AMT that just rigged the control surfaces of that aircraft , or installed a new engine, or auto pilot. ----- I'm not trying to diminish the responsibilities of our pilots, but let's also remember that it's a team effort here people!!!

This 3 1/2 minute video, with the pilot's hands on the yoke during a flight, is very realistic with today's autopilot systems. I think you can knock it down to 3 minutes with all three autopilots and full autoland.

Not really. Although they are good most of the time, the mantra of "automated everything" fails badly at times and sometimes requires more work from the pilots than hand flying. They tend to make a bad pilot average and a great pilot average when it comes to aircraft handling.

I look at these systems like having a great robot around the house. It cleans, it cooks, does minor home repairs, carrys heavy things and does the yardwork perfectly 99% of the time. But 1-2 times a year you wake up in the morning and it's standing over your bed holding a chainsaw with "RedRum" printing over and over again it's chest panel LCD.

I will add a big thumbs up to the AMT's and the rest of the workforce that keep us safely in the air. It's a team effort.
