Tell that to the people who were executed by the Ayatollah after the revolution. I'll agree there was less strife, but that's because the Shah's government refused to raise arms against the protesters until it was too late.Ms Tree said:OH, I see. Most of those who died in 1979 were the military generals and pro-Shah leadership. It wasn't until the Revolutionary Courts kicked off that the real killing started. The death toll from the courts was somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000.
As long as the regime is still in power, that's a number which probably won't ever be verified.
