Iraq Collapsing

OH, I see.  I guess tha's possible but I dont think Iraq/libya are the same as Iran.  Both of the other countries had a great deal of civil strife and were being torn aprt from with in.  Iran not so much.
Tell that to the people who were executed by the Ayatollah after the revolution. I'll agree there was less strife, but that's because the Shah's government refused to raise arms against the protesters until it was too late.

Most of those who died in 1979 were the military generals and pro-Shah leadership. It wasn't until the Revolutionary Courts kicked off that the real killing started. The death toll from the courts was somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000.

As long as the regime is still in power, that's a number which probably won't ever be verified.

Well apparently Obama proved that the MISSION was ACCOMPLISHED, and we may be going back.

Now don't let the facts, ah screw it!

Because he's a big spending Bankster owned and operated lap dog. Since Bush took office we've had the head and tail of a jackass in office ordering our soldiers to their death not for liberty but for faceless, nameless corporations and banksters, They have caused a recession of epic proportion and the willfully ignorant public assumes the position and say :Ram the Red White and Blue dildo up my assets again as the dollar loses evermore buying power and scores of Americans suffer due to their actions.

For those who are following events in Iraq, I got an e-mail from an old friend who has spent many years in the oil industry. Here's his take on what may be in store for us.-------  " For what it is worth, we went through the scenario in the 1980's to protect Saudi Arabia from an invasion by Iran and Iraq.  Saudi Arabia was on the target list in those days.  The Saudis don't have much of an army, they hire their guns and defense.  This last time this happened, we put a tank division or two over in Saudi Arabia.  I knew the General that was in charge of that deployment for the Pentagon.  It is interesting that the U.S. news media is not talking about this potential situation - at all.  The Saudis begged us to send in the U.S. Army to protect them.  We had to keep several USAF 747 setting at the ready at the Riyadh International Airport to fly the bulk of the royal family to safety when and if enemy tanks and armies did cross the northern border.  Regardless what they say, Iraq is lost and it looks like the same options could start shaping up with today toward Saudi Arabia."

I disagree. They are driven by any democrat that is elected. Obama is a Democrat and when his time is up, they must go suck the teet of the next Demo-loser!
Can't speak for anyone else. I am driven by the endless comedy provided here.

Gosh...those darn Saudi's.  Their money funds an attack on the US and we slap some other country that didn't do anything to us, the park USAF planes in their country, which totally pisses off the terrorists because now the great satan has war machines parked in the holy land of Mecca.  Screw it.   Let's all buy solar panels and just nuke the **** out of the entire middle east.

Just for the fun of it, let's just say Iraq falls.------ The price of oil today was about $106 a barrel. If Iraq should fall, that price could hit $120 a barrel. Now, just for kicks, what do you think it would be if Saudi Arabia should also fall? ------- $150?, $180?, $200 a barrel? And what do you think that would do to the price of gas? ------But at that point, you wouldn't have to worry about it, because at those prices  the whole worlds economies would drop into the mother of all depressions! ------ But you say the United States has a lot of oil? ------ Yes it does! But most of it is still in the ground!---- Thanks to Obama, and his tree hugging policy's! ------Open your eyes people!!!! Do we ween ourselfs off Mid east oil, and develop our own resources, or send more troops, and $$$, back to the sand box to protect their sorry a$$? Because if the Saudis are threatened, there will be American boots on the ground!

Who is going take over Saudi in this scenario?

Do you think the Russians and Chines willl want to come play in that sand box as well?

I would have preferred that the SoFA signed in 2008 had been modified, and the Obama Administration didn't seem to find that to be one of their priorities. My son isn't Army - he's a Marine. If he winds up deployed to Iraq, it's because the fan hath been hit hard enough to send them in.

Where's your condemnation of the previous administration signing it in the first place?  Of course it is their country and if they wanted US forces gone by a certain date then that was their choice.  And does anyone honestly think that there was even a trace amount of political will to keep them there longer?

Solar panels won't do you much good unless you own an electric car.  Very little petroleum is used for electrical production, most of it gets refined into fuels or used to make other consumer goods.

The "problem" with Saudi oil is that it's far more abundant and highly concentrated than crude in the U.S., and therefore cheaper to extract.  Just because you're sitting on a ton of oil doesn't mean it can be cheaply or easily brought to the surface.  The U.S. satisfies half its petroleum demand with its own production; it produces about 7.454 million barrels/day of crude and imports about 7.264 mmbl/day, 2.071 of which comes from the Persian Gulf.  This means that the U.S. would need to increase its crude oil production by about 27% in order to completely replace Persian Gulf oil while holding only 10% of the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia does.  While domestic crude production has been increasing in the past decade it seems unlikely to me that the U.S. will be able to cheaply produce as much oil as it imports from SA, or, if it can, that it would be able to for very long.

I highly doubt ISIS has the capacity to threaten Saudi Arabia in any meaningful way.  The Saudi Army and Air Force are nothing to sneeze at, and the ISIS fighters would have to cross vast swathes of open desert far from their bases of operation to reach any Saudi targets of real significance.  More likely they'll be preoccupied with increasing resistance from Shi'a fighters as they move deeper into Iraq.

The Russians and Chinese have an overabundance of sense and a lack of means to stage a large military adventure in the Persian Gulf.

Had the US not signed, and pulled troops out in 2008, you'd have a point. But they signed because it was the best option for Iraq. There was also a will to renegotiate later, but that died once Obama took office. Bush had nothing to gain by signing. Obama had no interest in anything other than winning re-election.
