I just heard she's heading for the door. Maybe trying to sneak out before the merger-mania hits? As someone so eloquently posted on another board:

I would like to celebrate some of Jane Allen's accomplishments while at United Airlines, specifically during her run of Onboard Services:

1. She welcomed a new-hire class to American Airlines

2. While speaking to a group of flight attendants in ORDSW (including a crew just arriving from NRT), she said she had to cut the meeting short because she'd been on her feet all day (it was 3 hours)

3. She made the decision to close both PHLSW and EWRSW. PHL was basically a satellite base at the time, saving the company money. Now the company is spending money on additional hotels each night as well as the cost of surfacing crews in to cover early morning departures (from BWI, IAD, DCA and JFK).

4. Because she personally didn't find them attractive, she forbid flight attendants from wearing certain styles of comfortable and sensible shoes while at work (clogs). Those same shoes were approved as soon as she left the Onboard division.

In the words of Dan Aykroyd, "Jane you ignorant slut!"

Her departure from AA was mourned by some. Not by very many.

Nice to see the amazing list of accomplishments at UA. :D

total waste of the company.. DELTA ALREADY GAVE HER THE BOOT. She is leaving before she is told to leave.. Glen Tilton brought her over
because wanted to waste more money on someone American didn't want.. She will probably end up next at VIRGIN OR JETBLUE OR AIRTRASH

Jane Allen Retires From United, Search for Replacement Under Way

Wonder what her hire package was to 'retire' from united?

Let's keep it civil, folks-there's a fine line between comment and insult on this subject.....

One thing she did know, was alot about AMR, which is why she was hired at UAL for sure...

As the head of Flight Service, Jane wouldn't have known anything super secret about AMR. Come on. We are talking about Flight Service, not capacity planning or corporate contracts.
