Well I guess it means that advance bookings are doing very well. Somewhat like the strong demand for the JFK-SAN service after it started last summer, except in this situation the first flight hasn't taken wing yet. It also looks like Boston could be the next base for jetBlue crews. Any rumors out on the line?

The 190 will bring a lot of great opportunities to JetBlue...including likely crew domicles at BOS and IAD (per Sr. VP Flight Ops)...supporting increased flying out of both. The 190 will not only allow us to enter "2nd tier" markets, but will also allow us to limit our exposure a bit on new markets...build the market, then put a 320 on it when it can be supported.

I think IAD is just a bit of a late bloomer...senior leadership has always spoken with committment to the potential in markets out of IAD...it seems to be spoken in the same manner than LGB, OAK and now BOS are. So perhaps we'll see a good amount of 190 flying out of IAD...that is, IMHO...

At Inflight recurrent training, they did mention that BOS will likely be a crew base for the 190's. But then again, thats just hearsay.

Im glad to see additional service out of BOS, was hoping to see a second R/T between BOS and DEN ... maybe down the road. I wonder if they'll begin BOS-OAK since OAK is a "money maker" for us.

As for IAD, I wonder if they have ACA/Independence Air in the back of their minds. Who knows.

Yesterday AA announced some new flights out of BOS to the islands, Colorado ski destinations, and I think to the left coast. Notice how they've been pressuring JBLU transcons in Seattle and San Diego? This may be the heritage of pulling out of ATL-LGB--JBLU has shown that if pressured (admittedly in a non-core mkt.) they will run. AA seems to be trying to ramp it up a bit competitvely, although the LA-JFK ramp is clearly more of a response to AWA, IMHO.

The AA press release was just a reminder. The "new" flights out of BOS were announced months ago. AA has been responding to alot of other airline press releases like this.

What pressure from AA on SEA and SAN transcons are you talking about? Seattle and JBLU are having gate discrepencies and SAN is doing really well with 3 flights a day.

No stretch at all...

The longest route segment to date for JB is JFK -OAK at 2260 nautical miles. You might be surprised that the new route, BOS - LGB is....yep you guessed it...2260 nautical miles! These two city pairs are excatly the same distance. This is due to the fact that LGB actually sits quite a bit further east than OAK does.

When this kind of issue comes up I always like to tell people that not only is San Francisco is further west than Los Angeles, but so is Reno.
