Jetblue - Union?

A union ? , At JetBlue ?,
It's the end of the world as we know it...

PTO, you may have another place to SCAB someday. 😉

NOT TO WORRY!!!!

The pilots will work for less!

I remeber an interview where Neeleman was asked about the future, and how long Jetblue could stay non union. His reply was, "If our people want to form a union, then we're not taking care of them, we're obviously doing something wrong".

I wouldn't put it past that Neeleman guy to sell JetBlue off in parts before he lets a union tell him how to run his company.

..and the Vultures are circling already!

Don't you have a rotting carcass called NWA to finish off first SCAB?

the airline’s baggage handlers have complained "they have no paid sick leave. They have no paid vacation. They have no pension plan." But JetBlue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin disputed Tiberi’s claims, saying all JetBlue workers receive paid time off based on number of years they’ve worked at the airline. That paid time off can be used for vacations, sick leave, holidays or any other purpose, she said to Newsday. Dervin also noted that JetBlue offers its employees a matching 401(k) and profit-sharing plan. She said JetBlue has not been formally notified of any attempt at an organizing event, but adds: "Basically, we just don't believe third-party representation is in the best interest" of employees. The certification leading up to any union vote is expected to take a month or longer.

HOW PATHETIC that mgmt would say this stuff.

Interesting that every legacy carrier is trying to match the benefits (or lack thereof) that B6 has, while they're trying to gain what the other carriers have/had.

It's beginning to and back again.....

it's only a matter of time before the f/a' and pilots follow.

no need to concern yourself with JB because you have to deal with SCAB AIR. AAviator, you are correct, the pilots will continue to work for less!

I think the jetBlue flght attendants will be right behind the baggage handlers. We have a few of them in our crashpad and they're already talking about it. The big reason for them; Are those nasty transcon turns.

Be VERY careful with whom you trust your working lives. Many profess to have "clout", but I suggest you read the Constitution and By-laws before voting. The IAM GAVE away an iron clad SCOPE agreement which cost every former TWA f/a their job. The ramp and mechanics did not do much better. When suits were filed, the crackerjack legal deptmart was nowhere to be seen. Every other local has a say in your representation. It is called a "white ballot". If the people you want are not voted in by JetBlue, the other locals will just offset your vote. Very little of your dues money stays with the Local. The "Grand Poopaws" have the ability to over-ride the vote of the membership if they think it is in the best interest of "the whole".

I have been a union member for 35 years. Most of that time I spent in various union positions working for the membership. I always said it wasn't about who had their name on the door. I was wrong. It is ALL about who has their name on the door. If you want to have a union, do your homework, even form an Independent, petition to join the AFL-CIO. Unite with other independents to form a strong
coalition. But please, think very carefully about your choice of the IAM.

And for the remark about the transcon turns...I find it interesting that those were TWA's most senior trips. lol
7 days on the property for a full months pay. The secret is insuring that you are not required to fly more than 2 legs a day for those long flights. Meeting and greeting, and saying "good by" is sometimes more tiring than the actual flight. I know of lots of people that would be very happy to have those turns.

You forget TWA was in bankruptcy for it third time and was not going emerge from it AA put the screw to TWA and its employees, not the IAM, and last time I checkd your FAs at TWA approved the changes in their contract, and I dont know how many mergers you have been through, but in a merger you always fall under the surviving carrier.

So your scope langauge covers the work you do while under TWA certificate, not AAs.

What AA wanted out of your contract was LPPs, not scope.

And what does this topic have to do with TWA? Nothing!
