I'm trying to find out where I can find more information about any available crash pads in PHX base. If anyone knows of someone or know where I can look for this information, please pass it along. I will be attending the March 13 training class for AWA next month. If someone is looking for a roommate, I'm open to that too.

Thanks in advance.

Apartments in the area are very cheap. Go to www.craigslist.com and start a crashpad. Charge $200.00 a person and make some cash for yourself to cover your part. :) Just a suggestion.

Thanks twicebaked. I've checked out that site already but not much info about crash pads. Any other suggestions for those looking for a crash pad anyone?

You may want to try calling the west training department. They have a book out where the classes are held that lists crash pads for rent, roomates needed, uniform items, etc. Maybe someone from there can tell you some of the listings available. Welcome to PHX!!

Just a thought, get a hotel for a week or so during the beginning of training, you should be able to find one with a good discount for the trainees. Then use the the before-mentioned book and find a crashpad.

cancer69, I see the most postings for crash pads on the wall in the breakroom above B4. This is our inflight area.
Its restricted, tho, so you'll need an ID or an escort. The stairs/elevator is next to B4 which also go up to the Club. You can go up w/no ID, just can't get thru the door thats on your left as you exit the elevator. But if you hang out for a minute or two, someone will come along, and then you can explain what you are looking for and they will hopefully have time to escort you to the breakroom.

I go to work on Thursday and I will try to remember to check for postings for you, I can PM you the info.
All the breakrooms have this kind of info stuck on the walls. Maybe also in the hot reserve room, but I don't spend any time in there.

And, yes, there are a couple commuter friendly hotels. One actually has a cheap "crash pad" deal, a pilot was telling me about it, it has several beds and bunks. He pays a small monthly fee for access. The hotel offers shuttle, breakfast, and has micro, and laundry avail. I will try to find out what hotel that was.

Another idea for you, call the training department and get a list of hotels that offer cheap rates to trainees. I know they had this when US-West was HP a year or so ago.

The Country Inn and Suites Charges 145 for 15 days for a crash pad then I think 15 a day after 15 days. It has 24 hour shuttle service to the airport as well as membership to LA Fitness. There are apts. in Tempe place is called Meridian Corners 2 bedrooms and 2 baths for 575.00 a month it is off of Broadway and close to McClintok. Last year we recieved a company discount for Pace Airlines. I am sure that they would give us a company rate for US Airways. I am going to the 13 March class as well and am looking for people who would want to go in together for a crashpad.

I don't think you will need an escort other than having someone let you in. Obviously the code for the door cannot be given to you on this board, but inflight provided the PHX flight attendants a list of break room locations and access instructions for the east bases. So you should only need your badge.
