Dear Flight Attendants-

As you know, I met with the company for the past two days to discuss the
sale of MidAtlantic to Republic, and what that means for us. The Company
presented me with an overview of what Republic has to offer us, as flight
attendants, applying to work for them. I have attached the document for you to
download and print. If you have trouble downloading it or opening it, please
let
me know and I will send it in the body of an email.

I will be straight forward with you when I tell you, that it is NOT in any
way, an attractive package for us. In a nutshell, we would basically have the
option to interview. If elected for employment, training is approximately 3
weeks long. If their new tentative contract ratifies, training will be paid
at minimum wage/3 weeks. You will not know if you will be flying for
Republic, Chautauqua or Shuttle America until the end of your training.
Dependant
upon who you fly for dictates what aircraft you will be flying on. We are
not gauranteed to fly our EMB 170's.

With those few things being said about Republic the Company realizes that
Flight Attendants will/may consider looking outside of MidAtlantic for other
employment. The Company has approached us with an incentive package of various
different items that they are willing to give to the Flight Attendants to not
only help with this difficult transition but to also ensure that the
MidAtlantic Operation is not compromised during the transition period. The
items
that are being discussed to incentivise will be in finalized by the end of next
week or the beginning of the week following.

When speaking to Jerry Glass regarding this transition, his comment to me
was, "During this difficult time, we want to make it as easy and smooth as
possible. If the Flight Attendants will hang on they will get something. If
they leave now, they will get nothing".

As this process progresses, a/c will be leaving MAA at a few per month.
When the a/c leave, a certain number of flight attendants will be furloughed
with the a/c. This will take place monthly until the last a/c have gone.
The Company is currently discussing alternatives to doing reverse involuntary furlough initially by allowing more senior people to leave voluntarily first, thus saving the position of a junior flight attendant. In the interim, if you stay until you are furloughed, you will have two
opportunites to gain 1. monetary incentives (being discussed) and 2. Company
incentives (being discussed).

As difficult and trying as this may be for all of us, we still have a job to
do, if we so choose. The decision is up to each and every one of you, which
of course is based on your individual needs.

I will be following up with a letter in every Flight Attendants mailbox
along with a copy of the Outline from Republic. I will also put out a Q&A that
will answer most of the questions submitted by various FA's through the past
several days. A handful of questions have been submitted to the Company for
further review with Republic. As I receive answers back from the Company, I
will forward them to the Flight Attendant group.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.

In solidarity,

Bobbi
MEC President

I wonder what they will offer the F/As to get them to stay... do I smell credited longevity towards mainline?

I am not sure at this point, but the only thing I smell from here is what Republic is offering the MAA Flight attendants; A bowl of poop

Based on what I have heard the Pilots and F/A's are being slapped in the face once again after all the cuts they have taken already.
Anybody have a feeling as to who will work the ramp function when Republic takes over ? Right now in PIT the mainline group loads the planes. I have a feeling this may change. :(

You got that right, Toto. Agreements mean nothing to Bronner. His word is worthless. I can't wait for the merger to happen so that piece of crap will be out of our hair once and for all.

What they have offered to flight attendants was a chance to interveiw with them...oohh ..We all just cant wait ..to tell them where to stick it!!!!

They haven't told rampers in PHL anything about when we're either going to have to switch to Express or start getting in-station transfer paperwork together to go to mainline. I'm guessing it's going to be a couple of months though.

This is how much they are not telling us anything....A new class at MAA(F/A's) just went through training. They went through traing in CLT last week and noone told them what was going on. So, they basically have no clue they are coming back from furlough just to get furloughed again in a few months. I still can not figure out why MAA managment did not tell them. They all will be finding out this week I guess ..when they start to fly and get the real scoop from their coworkers. There is going to be more classes(I heard). I do not think it is right that they are not being told.

If I were an F/A and presented this deal I would just walk. You can do better elsewhere. If this deal makes you mad then don't take it. I have talked to some of the pilots and they will not take it. This whole thing is under threat of being overturned in a grevience. Thie grievance protection, as little as that may be, all goes away if you sign on the dotted line.

Let the company sweat out not being able to operate the aircraft or try to operate short handed. Don't make it easy for them.

The economic conditions of this industry are now such that these jobs are no better than McDonalds. Let em eat cake and start from scratch. Pilots, F/A's the whole lot.

just my $.02

If you give two weeks notice because you know you can not live on these Republic wages, can you collect unemployment? I know that just walking off or quiting will compromise your unemployment benefits...Glass is an evil man and its just not worth playing his games anymore.

It seems to me that if you have to be interviewed for the job, you've been "let go" from the one you now hold. Also, the terms of your employment have been changed rather dramatically.

I don't know why any one would choose to stay around to help Mr Glass make the transistion "smooth'.

Guys, you deserve better, much better. You've already sacrificed a lot for this company. We all have.

I wish you all the best and I fear you won't see it from this deal.

Just ask for a 55 Million dollar "Transition Retainment Bonus" Heyyy...It seems to work for management.

Ironic that during the Siegel startup / puchase of EMB170s, MDA was going to be the salvation of US Airways.

Now after useless millions were spent, for startup, training, deployment; all affecting hundreds of people; MDA is no longer a viable portion of US Airways.

I wish both the F/As and the Pilots, the best of luck. Remember that you and your families come first. Forget "the smooth transition" and DO WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

Once again, it's been proven that CCY can't find their way out of a paper bag, and you should not suffer for their lack of morals.

MDA is/was a good thing. CCY loves to toss anything that seems to work. JetBlue will prove that when the 190's arrive. I hope that MDA employees pass this pathetic offer. Anyone that ever had the chance to meet or fly with any of these employees, would probably agree that this is an amazing group. They love what they do and won't settle for less. Good luck with a smooth transition
