HOUSTON, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today announced the airline will begin nonstop service May 2 linking Albuquerque International Sunport with the airline's New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The once-weekly service, operating on Saturdays, will be Albuquerque's only nonstop service to the New York area.

The New York/Newark-bound flight will depart Albuquerque at 12:25 p.m. and arrive at 6:45 p.m. The return flight will depart Liberty Airport at 8:45 a.m. and arrive at Albuquerque Sunport at 11:45 a.m.

Continental will continue to offer five daily flights between Albuquerque and Houston.

Travelers flying to New York will arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport, the New York-area airport most convenient to midtown Manhattan and Newark, N.J. In addition, Continental offers on-airport connections via Amtrak to Philadelphia, Wilmington, Del., and Stamford and New Haven, Conn. Customers flying beyond New York can connect to dozens of cities in the eastern United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe.

With nearly 400 daily flights to more than 120 destinations worldwide, Continental offers more flights to more destinations from the New York area than any other airline in the world. The airline's Terminal C at Liberty Airport, which includes DKNY and Kenneth Cole department stores and a variety of high-end and fast-food restaurants, has been ranked highest among U.S. airports in terminal concessions.

Continental Airlines is the world's seventh-largest airline with more than 2,300 daily departures to 126 domestic and 101 international destinations throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. With 42,000 mainline employees, the airline has hubs serving New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, and carries approximately 51 million passengers per year. FORTUNE ranks Continental one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America, an honor it has earned for six consecutive years. FORTUNE ranked the company highest among major U.S. carriers in the quality of its service and products, and No. 2 on its list of Most Admired Global Airlines in 2003.
