As many of you may know, local 542 was in trusteeship for almost 18 months. 15 days prior to the end of the trusteeship, the international merged local 542 (AA Dispatchers) and local 545 (US Dispatchers). Local 545 brings 300 members and 45k treasury to the party and local 542 brings 450 members and 270k treasury. The international appoints an interim board and makes the 545 president of the new local 549. The reason, the local 542 members stood up to the international and the 545 president is a puppet.

Over the last 18 months the international has pursued a lawsuit against the former board of local 542 through the trustee of local 542 Gary Shults. Gary spent 100k of local 542 treasury on the lawsuit and the international hasn't spent a time. Now the new president (puppet) is going to continue the lawsuit and continue o use local money.

In addition, the international failed to appoint a recording secretary to the interim board, so no general membership meetings can take place until an election is held. That will be in May, but without a recording secretary, that's all in question.

TWU screws the members again.

Who's by-laws will the new local follow? In some twu local by-laws a president may call a general membership meeting.

The new local by laws. But according to the international, you can't have a gmm without a recording secretary to take minutes. And allegedly, they didn't appoint one to the interim board on purpose. They don't want the membership to have the ability to make and vote on motions.

Sounds like the DOL law suit against the IAMPF and trustees ........

That is what is alleged, but an NMB investigation proved out there was no connection. Also, the DOL did an audit and there was no inappropriate actions. But the TWU international is still pursuing an civil lawsuit. A lawsuit the members don't want to pay for, but the international already took 100k of the locals treasury. Not a dime of the international treasury spent.

Also, the dispatchers have a Facebook page and they posted the deposition Gary Shults gave in this lawsuit. It's a long read, but interesting. I'll see if I can get a copy to post here.

I believe that you E board can temporarily place those duties to someone within the board till someone is placed or elected. Depending on your bylaws
