I have seen AirTran boarding & deplaning in a few cities using both a jetway on the forward door and a set of airstairs on the rear door. I assume this system is designed to shave a few minutes off deplaning/ boarding time. Is this dual-system in use everywhere, or is it just an experiment?

I'd like to know what cities these are. If this is true, it's news to alot of us. JetBlue uses Airstairs on alot of their flights but I've never seen FL do this ever. Could you identify the cities???? B)

Tampa and Lauderdale.

Tampa and Lauderdale.
Interesting and Thank you for the response. I will inquire about this tomorrow with someone who should know. I was in FLL 6-8 weeks ago and there were no Airstairs available and I know TPA never had any but I haven't been to that Station since last year. Currently I am in SEA for tomorrow's opening but someone will be here that I can ask. Stay tuned... B)

Found out that it is being tested to see if it helps speed up De-planeing and Boarding. On a 40 minute turn it seems a little silly but if its a late flight and you want to turn it in 25 minutes, it could help.
