Because it was unfair to other members we lost out on retro and the money was divided up more equally. So in other words my retro ended up subsidizing the other work groups to make it fair and equitable. Sounds like socialism within our union ranks.
I have been trying to tell the patrons of this forum that for years.

Now you are starting to see the TWU for what it really is, for what it always has been.

The TWU (Association) exist to turn UNION dues into Democrat campaign contributions and condition you to support leftist ideals.

It is a giant money laundering scheme and reeducation camp posing as a UNION.

And AMFA's PAC only giving to Democrats??? Where is the difference?

As I understand it the difference is you have NO CONTROL over the international at all.

NONE!!!

With AMFA you are able to have some say so in the top leadership.

You have to ask yourself what kind of leadership you are really getting when they insulate themselves from the possibility of removal.

Actually in 2013 they did remove the TWU President Jim Little from office by informing him that they (Harry Lombardo ticket) would be running against him which made him announce his retirement and the team he supported in opposition to the Lombardo team did not gain enough support from the Delegates voted in by their members in all TWU Locals to represent their members at the convention to continue on with their campaign.

Sir you were not with the Airline long enough to ever understand how the structure works and haven’t been with AA in close to 15 years.

But for those who actually work for AA and are interested here is the TWU Constitution explaining the process.

And the election of Harry Lombardo and other TWU Reps.

I really hate feeding this guy’s obsession with us at AA but he never can and likely never will move on so at least here and there his ignorance should be refuted and cleared up.

Sad soul.

You understand correctly sir. At the industrial unions the upper leadership at the International levels can not be removed, and yes, the membership has absolutely NO control over the International at all.
True; With AMFA they will have a say so at he National level of officers, by electing who the membership wants in real elections, as well as they can also get/be recalled by the membership. No one is ever appointed except in Emergencies for temp filled positions until elections have time to take place.
With AMFA, the membership even votes on the amount of pay National Officers get. At the industrials, the membership has no say so what so ever, hence, why industrial union leadership is always appointed by the buddy buddy system and they are WAY over paid by hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. Some are paid over 3-500K per year when including all perks, bonuses real estate, pay, awards etc...
Glad you brought these points up as the membership should weigh these internal workings differences of the industrials and AMFA's Class and Craft Union to represent the Mechanics group.

Don't forget the part about almost all elected AMFA officials still working their "day jobs." That keeps their ear close to the ground and makes them accessible to those they represent.

As for salaries; if an official delivers? They're worth every nickel.

Maybe if they didn’t work their day jobs they’d actually have the time to spend on their membership and deliver something? 19 years at SWA and they’re still trying to blame the Teamsters for their lack of being able to add jobs. Incompetence doesn’t win prizes.

What kind of dues nonsense is AMFA pulling at Sun Country???? "Voluntary" dues with no representation in order to avoid an initiation fee at a later date? Are these people kidding?
"In the next few weeks, you will be receiving a New Member package containing an Application for Membership and a Dues Check-off Form, which will permit you to be a member in good standing, attend union meetings, vote on contract and letter of agreement ratification, and vote for Local and National officers and representatives. Until a CBA is ratified between AMFA and SCA, your AMFA Initiation Fee will be waved when you pay voluntary membership dues. Your dues will be initially used to support your elected local SCA representatives and negotiating your CBA."

Indeed, very true Kev. Every day I see my officers and leaders of AMFA still doing their daily duties as Aircraft Mechanics on the floor. And yes, this def keeps them in the know of the members wishes and all the every day going ons within the membership daily. Also helps keeps communications, information, updates and no more rumors or misinformation floating around, very transparent and well informed about everything.

If all of those officers and leaders are on the floor working for the AIRLINE and not the MEMBERSHIP than why is the membership paying them anything at all? I mean I’ve seen the AMFA LM2 and officers are getting some decent money already.

I think I understand now why they’re so ineffective at negotiating contracts then.
