Well...the new NWA "IAM proposal" is out...only remaining "mainliners" will be MSP/DTW and * SOME ** gateways...everyone else gets to work for "Ground Co." (can you say $12/hr ???). And at (basically) 20% paycuts, most will NOT be able to afford working at NWA anymore (unless you're topped-out).......Heck...you can make more sitting on a stool at a convenience store.....and I understand NWA not getting much help at the "job-fairs" they're holding..GEE....GO FIGURE !!!

If you're smart, you'll be submitting apps right now at the "regionals" (** NOT ** any affiliated with NWA) ...they will now be PAYING better with much more security...and most importantly...they LIKE their employee's...they actually view an emplyee as an ASSET !!....NORTHWEST is now a DEAD-END JOB to nooooooooo-where.....what do ya think ????l

Well we thought US sucked, when they did what they did, but they paid every one, who remained at an "A" station, the same.("B" stations went US express)

NW, on the other hand is trying to make it an 3 tier system.

As bad as it is,(meaning people in the "tiny" out stations knew this would happen), how the IAM can allow a ramper in say BOS/JFK/PDX to be paid approx. $2.50 an hour less, than say MSP/DTW, is nothing short of CRIMINAL !!!!!!!!!!

I think most of the B stations for US went to a third party or in some cases to either PSA or Piedmont bith of which offer crappy pay. That is the typical IAM union for you sell out everyone but the ones in the hubs/big cities. good luck to you all at NWA

Well....since 80% of us are going out the door here (ie: Ground Co. at $12/hr TOPS)...why not just WALK during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season ??? I know that sounds silly...but think about it....What have ya got to lose ??? Other than the few people remaining in MSP/DTW, the rest of us are gonna be making about the same amount of money as someone sitting on a stool in a convenience store...so....You KNOW you're already "Thinking" about another job...so why not just STICK it to this piece of #*## bunch of CRIMINALS that are ruining this company ???? They made SURE to vote themselves 3 ** YES...THREE ** pensions b4 they decided to take OURS !!! We're all gonna be looking for something that pays better anyway...so why not HURT these Ba$$$$ds anyway...at least it would send a message (albeit however weak) to the other LCC's that the employees have had ENOUGH !!! And lets ee how NWA likes the "talent pool" that they'll be getting...lets see if NWA enjoys having a bunch of "fast-food" employyes to depend on.....instead of committed caring employees.....y

You are right. Why give them another Thankgiving or Christmas? Spend it with your family for a change. Where do you think Steenland and Buffy will be on those days? They arent worried enough about you or the company to give up those times with their families so why should you? Stay home for the Holidays!!!!

go for it! you got nothing to lose! i think that we at US Air should have done it after we found out. SAD SAD SAD Good Luck To You All!

OK. My question goes like this.

1. NW SCAB's the Mechanics before bankruptcy because they fear the mechanics union will be the worst to deal with due to resentment towards management for already doing away with thousands of jobs.
2. NW hires foreign nationals to fly all international flying, thus getting rid of the majority of flight attendants. Reduces capacity in certain aircraft to go back to two on board, ships flying to express or as retirement of DC-9’s accelerates just doesn’t replace the flying at all..
3. NW “Ground Companyâ€￾ is established for all stations but DTW/MSP and a "few" gateways to rid themselves of the majority of the IAM.

In essence they rid themselves of all unions except APLA, and they pattern themselves after DL and Delta Global Services. What stops a coming together of DL and NW during bankruptcy? They have a similar set up to DL in only active union on property is ALPA. They now have les union involvement in the bankruptcy process, less unions to integrate with DL employees. They convince the judges that the best solution for all remaining stakeholders is to allow the companies to merge, consolidate senior management, corporate offices, discontinue more routes and in the end you wind up with one less carrier. The new carrier keeps the only real crown jewel; (The strong Pacific Region Flying with a hub in NRT) liquidates the MEM hub to send flying to ATL to compete with FL, liquidates CVG and sends flying into DTW. Reallocate some assets to the West Coast to gain additional market in the Pacific Rim.

Feasible?

sad but this could be what they are trying to do. I wish all the NWA employees good luck.
I think that this is going to be the way it is until the US economy gets better

I must agree with Robbed, NWA has pushed this whole thing into their favor. They have executed every move like a high stakes chess player. I would be really surprised if they were not prepared for if not anticipating any type of walk out especially where unions are concerned.

So the concesions these employees are making are to be used to finance the merger and ironically, the elimination of their jobs.

Seems like the mechanics got the best deal going. Top pay till the last day. Unemployment based on that top pay till they start their next job, and dignity.

I think the whole ground co. thing is a tool to get the employees scared enough to vote deeper pay cuts to preserve jobs. Looking at the language it seems the only difference for working for the ground co. and NW would be the uniform. The pay difference is less than $2 an hour. Unless they would be treated as new hires. I didn't see anything which suggests the iam wouldn't still be there either. Not that it would matter, as DL had no problem telling the TWU at Pan Am to beat it.
