Was just about to post it. It is awesome news indeed. Just as expected!

This is great news but I am not really surprised about AAs aggressive international expansion especially out of our key Miami hub. Although it is going to seasonal and not year round I just hope we make good yields on this route to make it year round.

😀 😛 🙂
Yippee.....It is about time!
Anyone heard anymore rumors on possible new European Routes? How about JFK-MAD? Or whatever happened to BCN?

If the route performs good in the winter, the word is that it will operate 5w (xTuWe) during the summer months.

In addition to the good amount of O&D between the cities, and the huge O&D between Manchester and the Caribbean, one of the key reasons for this route is that AA and BA can codeshare on it. If AA/BA can get a good amount of MIA>>Europe traffic to connect in MAN, this route has a good chance of making it in the summer. That's the good thing about Miami<>Europe traffic, unlike many markets, the high seasons for to Europe and from Europe are reversed, which makes year-round services much more viable.

Also, with all the hype of MIA-MAN, another new route was finally loaded into Sabre, MIA-SKB:

AA 2299 MIA 1102-1459 SKB WeFrSu 738
AA 2280 SKB 1610-1830 MIA WeFrSu 738

Service will increase to five weekly with Thursday and Saturday flights on 2 February 2005.

Seasonal Service Becomes American's Fourth European Destination From Miami

MIAMI, May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines will inaugurate new, daily nonstop service between Miami and Manchester, United Kingdom, on Nov. 1, 2004. Manchester will become the fourth European destination served by American from the Miami hub.
The first eastbound flight departs Miami on Nov. 1, and the first westbound flight departs Manchester on Nov. 2. This seasonal service will operate through April 30, 2005. The route will be served with a Boeing 767 aircraft with capacity for 29 Business-Class and 178 Coach-Class passengers.

"The United Kingdom is Florida's largest tourism market. The number of visitors arriving from the U.K. is expected to grow appreciably this year -- and continue to grow in the coming years," said William D. Talbert III, president & CEO, Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. "American's new direct Miami-Manchester service gives a welcome boost to Miami-Dade's tourism industry and makes it easier than ever for U.K. tourists to visit us here in Miami."

Miami is American's top international gateway. American and its regional partner American Eagle operate the airport's largest flight schedule with more than 200 flights a day to 90 destinations, including 35 cities in the United States, three destinations in Europe, two in Canada and 50 in the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Latin America.

The following is American's new schedule to Manchester from Miami International Airport (all times local):

From MIA to MAN From MAN TO MIA

Manchester should served from every hub, including DFW. The UK should be the first international destination in revenue for AA. LHR is AA's most important airport outside North America, anything to enhance this helps. I think AA should look into serving Dublin, Ireland as another step to provide greater service to the British Isles. Irish service from Boston, JFK, ORD, Miami & DFW should happen by decades end.

Service to Spain should also increase. OneWorld has BA, Iberia, Finnair & Swiss in Europe with AA providing only two flights to Zurich and one to Madrid. Service from ORD to Helsinki to complement Finnair's JFK flights, should start next Spring. Madrid should get served from DFW(flown before the Miami hub) & JFK(old TWA) , I can't believe Iberia only flies to Miami, ORD and JFK.

India should be another AA priority. Service from JFK & ORD to Delhi and Mumbai NONSTOP with 777 should go sooner then later. If that means borrowing a page from SIA with "executive economy", Business Class and no First Class to lighten the plane that's the road to take. AA has to get to India before UA does. I know DL and NW fly to India via Europe but Nonstop is what the market now demands. If Bankrupt Air Canada can fly from Toronto to Delhi nonstop with A345's then, ORD to MUMBAI with 777's.

DFW-MAN was tried: Did not work.

DFW-MAD was tried: Did not work.

There is absolutley no reason for those routes. Every major connection that MAD travelers could make at Dallas is more easily done through Miami or O'Hare. Every major connection that MAN passengers could make at Dallas is more easily done through Miami or O'Hare. Plus, while O'Hare and Miami provide large O&D traffic to Madrid and Manchester (MIA-MAD being one of the most traveled trans-Atlantic city pairs), Dallas provides far too little.

Ireland service actually is being looked out. It would be flown from Miami. There is absolutley no reason for AA to fly from Boston, JFK, or O'Hare to Ireland when Aer Lingus serves the market properly. And, again, DFW-DUB/SNN is the same case as with MAN and MAD: MIA and ORD provide the O&D and all the proper connections. Strict US-Ireland bilaterals, however, hinder growth in the market. If Ireland agrees to drop the 50/50 Shannon rule, then the future is brighter.

MAH4546,

"Miami-Madrid being one of the most treveled transatlantic city pairs".

2 Iberia 747 and 1 AA 767 DOES NOT equal " most Traveled". From Miami to LHR their are 4 planes daily and AA's 777 is the smallest, 2 BA 744 and 1 VS 744 or A346 are the others. Anything from the USA to LHR is bigger. Miami - MAD is the biggest to Madrid from the USA but how many flights are there to Madrid from the USA? Delta from ATL and JFK, Iberia from Mia, ORD and JFK; AA from Miami: Cal from Newark. Delta's service from ATL and JFK to Barcelona & Madrid( 4 767 daily) actually equal the number of flights Iberia has to all the USA. Iberia is under serving the USA. LAX & BOS would be a good start for more flights.

Miami-Madrid is one of America's most traveled trans-Atlantic routes, like it or not.

I don't remember the list in order, but America's most traveled trans-Atlantic routes are:

LHR-BOS/JFK/EWR/LAX/ORD/SFO/MIA/IAD
LGW-MCO
AMS-DTW
FRA-ORD/JFK/IAD
CDG-JFK/LAX/IAD
MAD-MIA

Three daily flights is alot in one market.

Looks like Miami-Madrid is really down the list there. Poor Miami never gets respect, it like the Rodney Dangerfield field of American international airports.
