Police in London have thwarted a bomb plot - apparently it involved carryon bags/items. Soulution: No carryons of any type. Very limited exceptions for money/passports/etc:

Attention Baggage Handlers: There will be laptops, jewelry, and other assorted valuables in greater quantities than ususal from ALL flights arriving from UK on Thursday until further notice.

Today will most certainly be chaotic at best for flights out of the UK. Imagine all the folks returning home to the states with their laptops, blackberrys, etc.
 
Rumours are swirling right now that the USA will announce much more restrictive carryon rules overnight as well. Expect pandamonium on Thursday. The Brits are banning all liquids. No water. Only liquids allowed are baby milk and medicine (after verification).

Nonsense. Probably every suitcase arriving from the UK will contain either a laptop, a camera, some jewelry, or other valuable item. Christmas in August!
 
The official said the plotters intended to simultaneously target multiple planes bound for the United States. In Washington, two U.S. counterterrorism officials said the terrorist had targeted United, American and Continental airlines.

I would hardly say that they have lost their mind! Do the security forces ignore the specific intelligence they have recieved and just let the terrorists go ahead with there plans? I would say that you may have lost your mind if you think that is a good idea.

A couple of years back, I was "scoffed" at when I pointed out how Effective EL-AL was(FOR YEARS) dealing with these Issues.

Well guess what(NEWS FLASH), THAT is where we are headed !!

Will someone NOW tell me that the airlines will LOSE business because of this increased security, or will Cunard lines be putting "extra sections" on their Southhampton--NYC trips ??

I-Pods my A$$ !!!!!!!!!

We did WITHOUT THEM , before, PLUS there is audio available o/b the a/c !

Has EL-AL stopped serving beverages o/b ??........."NO" !

But we all know about citizens' rights,,,The ACLU will be soon rearing their heads on this issue.


Latest info on how the plot was to be carried out:

It wasn't one specific liquid that would be carried on the aircraft to be detonated. It was two or more liquids, possible disguised as hair gel, and two or more terrorists/passengers would actually join the two liquids while the aircraft ws in flight..

I hate to say it,,,but eventually these terrorists B#####DS are going to succeed!

Well, they weren't Swedes,Danes or Finns from what I understand...draw your own conclusions from that.

Oh and when the FBI finds those missing Egyptian college students they need to be put on the next goddamned EgyptAir flight back to CAI with a big PNG stamp on their foreheads.
