Negotiate.

This is the avenue down which ALPA wishes to proceed to relieve them of any liability.

ALPA always says negotiate. Never stand up and fight, just negotiate. If the Company doesn't counter offer, you keep counter offering till the Company agrees.

Don't tell that moron Bruce York, but outside of ALPA this is called Negotiating With Yourself.

ALPA negotiators are extremely risk-averse and the last few decades show the results of this inherent weakness.

ALPA EC RESOLUTION #2 - June 26, 2007

WHEREAS the Executive Council resolved that the MECs explore consensual approaches that promote mutual career protection and mutual success, as part of achieving an acceptable single collective bargaining agreement that improves pay, benefits, work rules and job security for both pilot groups, and

WHEREAS the President has reported that additional work remains to be done to carry out the May 2007 Executive Council resolution, and

WHEREAS the Executive Council resolution is intended to further implement the merger process under Part I-N and related processes of Merger Policy, and

WHEREAS the two MECs and Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) should, in the best interests of their respective pilot groups, fully engage in working together on such consensual approaches, and

WHEREAS the Executive Council, recognizing the importance of issues relating to the AAA/AWA Seniority Integration Award, believes that it is essential to establish a communications program to provide the AAA and AWA membership and all other members of the Association with accurate information and to counter erroneous information that has been widely disseminated among the pilots, and

WHEREAS the Executive Council has resolved to provide the MECs and JNC with additional support and resources,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the President meet as soon as practicable jointly with the two MECs to address the programs called for by the Executive Council in this resolution, the concerns of the Executive Council, and the concerns of the MECs, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President establish a communications program to provide the AAA and AWA membership

and all other members of the Association with accurate information on the issues concerning the Award, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President establish a committee composed of First Vice President Paul Rice as Chairman, and including Executive Board members to work (together with advisors and Executive Council members to be named by the President) with both MECs and the JNC, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the committee assist the MECs and JNC in achieving the goal of developing consensual approaches that promote mutual career protection and mutual success, as part of achieving an acceptable single collective bargaining agreement that improves pay, benefits, work rules and job security for both pilot groups, with the expectation that the MECs and JNC will cooperate and participate in this process, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the committee assist with the communication program specified by this resolution, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the committee report to the Executive Council at its July meeting and also report to the members of the Executive Board in a timely manner commencing in July so that the Executive Board will have the benefit of being kept up to date on a matter of great importance to our union.

ALPA EC RESOLUTION #2 - June 26, 2007

WHEREAS the Executive Council resolved...

WHEREAS Blah Blah Blah/etc

"Gentlemen..This is serious..We've got to protect our phoney-baloney jobs"

Whooptie-Do. Show me if/when they actually DO SOMETHING that proves usefull. I'd find myself in a total state of clinical shock methinks.

Oops...I missed a critical point via a hasty reply = "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President establish a committee..." Blessing Be...another committee..NOW we're really gonna' get somewhere fast.........Sheesh. At least the threat of fairly imminent decert's getting their limited attention.

U R right, hopefully we can work out a compromise of some kind.

Agreed. The East pilots make good on their word of accepting the binding Nic Award and have the National send the list to the company.

Or were you looking for a one sided West compromise to the EAST? Ain't gonna happen.

U R right, hopefully we can work out a compromise of some kind.

Something will be worked out, and then Prater will immediately credit his vision and leadership. He'll declare that it's a great day for all Alpa pilots, that we all "win" because of the consensus (whatever a consensus is supposed to mean in this case), and then he'll declare the following day to be "National Feel Good Oprah BS group Hug Why Can't We All Get Along Day." Then, he'll drive off in his Alpa paid luxury car, drive to a fine restaurant in Georgetown which also will be paid by Alpa, and then settle in for the night at his Alpa paid for residence. Did I miss anything?
